Tech returns to his quarters around midnight, early for him, and heads to his room. Jake's words stuck with him the entire trip home, but he was determined to live his life without his brother's mistakes or drowning in his own guilt.
He finds his room door open and Sammy asleep in his bed. The placement of her Glock is also noted and Jason realizes that it's a measure of her trust that the weapon isn't under her pillow.
All of Jake's words vanish from his mind as if they'd never been spoken. Changing into his pajamas, Jason slides under the covers and curls up with Sammy, an arm going gently around her waist.
"Goodnight, Gorgeous." he says, gently kissing her cheek.
He is asleep before his head hits the pillow.
