Sitting on the Beach (open to Defenders)
Marlow sat on a blanket on the private beach one morning not that long after the battle with Dormammu, staring out over the waves with her knees drawn up to her chest. She wore a button down shirt Sarah found for her, probably one of Griffin’s, over swimsuit bottoms. The wound she’d sustained from the Mindless Ones laser blasts was healing slowly. It made lifting her arms over her head hurt and pull on the healing flesh, so wearing her own tee shirts was out of the question for awhile.

She really wished she could heal herself. It was by far the worst thing that had happened to her up to now. Even with the odd magic boost, she couldn’t manage the most simple healing spell on herself.

	"No one's ever admitted watching that, but it's better than my guilty pleasure." Titan says. He chuckles a little before he speaks again. "True Blood. I will fight Andy to get out if there's an episode of True Blood on. He hates the show with a passion. I love the theme song." he admits bashfully. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	At least he didn't laugh, or ask her to explain her fascination with families on television. She liked him that much more. "I've never seen that show. I'll give it a try the next time it's on." Pause. "I could watch with you if you're out." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Titan blinks a little, dumbstruck.

"Uh, sure you can, Magic Babe. But, I gotta warn you...the show isn't for the faint of heart. There's stuff in there that...they don't show on the Family Channel." Titan says. He's not making fun of her, but Marlow should know what she's getting into before watching a show like this.

"Any other channels you like? I like the History Channel when they talk about wars and fights." he says. "Oh, and boxing or any Mixed Martial Arts. American Gladiators is cool, too, but only the old version." he grins.

Marlow gave him a look just this side of 'you must be joking'.

"I fight demons," she reminded him "We came out of the last one splattered in demon blood, remember? I watch the Family Channel sometimes because I never had one. I was a baby when somebody gave me to Clea. I don't have a last name because nobody claimed me. You're kind to think a TV show might be too much for me."

"American Gladiator," she continued, "is fun, but Ninja Warrior makes me laugh."

"Well, this show is about vampires and shapeshifters, kind of. And the girl that gets involved with them." Titan says.

When she relates how she came to be given to Clea, Titan actually shuts up. As crappy as his life had been at times, he'd never had to endure anything like that.

"I'm sorry to hear that, Marlow. If it makes ya feel any better...I didn't have a name when I was born, either. I picked Titan...because it worked for me. But if I hadn't, I wouldn't have a name, either." he says.

"Ninja Warrior is funny. I'd like to try that out someday, but I'd just make all the other contestants look bad, so it wouldn't be fun for them." he says.

She shrugged. "I was told that it was the safest place to be. I don't know if that meant me or other people, but Clea was good to me and I learned a lot. She sent me here to learn more and be with people."

She stretched her feet out on the sofa. "Titan fits you, but I think they would have named you if you hadn't stepped up first. You have a personality that needed a strong name."

"Yeah, that's probably true. Somehow, though, I doubt the name would have been real flattering to me." Titan says.

Titan leans back against the sofa, his long black hair blanketing Marlow's leg.

"Well, I'm glad she sent you here. How else would anyone get to know how awesome you are if you were cooped up with just magic spells all the time, Sorceress?" Titan asks.

"They'll like you. They already like Andy, and Argo was friendly with them too. You like to fight like Halbjorn and Aridis, and Sarah loves to feed people so she'll like you too. Griffin's kind of..." what was the word... "squirrelly, but he's nice." She combed hair over his shoulder with her fingers. "Zoey thinks all the stuff that happens is great. Dawn is still getting used to things but she's doing really well adjusting to all of us. We just don't make messes for Sydney to clean up. She doesn't like to talk to angry strangers."

	"What plans?" she asked absently. "Your hair is really black." And maybe needed a trim. Would it work if Titan had a trim? Ordinarily she wouldn't have thought about it, but her own recent visit to the salon for a hair cut thanks to Sydney was still fresh. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"That's not strange. She's your mom." Her smile focused on him rather than his hair that felt nice under her fingers. "I already told you everything about me. I'm a sorceress. I live here now, and I fight demons and magicians, and sometimes Dawn and I practice spells on Argo's fangirls at the gate. Tomorrow they're all going to think they're fifty pounds overweight!"

"Funny thing is, I think he may not notice. He's got girls in every port, so if loses a thousand or so, it'll only pique his interest until the next set comes along." Titan grins.

He relaxes against her as she finger-combs his hair, a deep growl issuing from his throat.

"Surprised you don't have guys lined up at the front gate for you, Magic Babe..." Titan rumbles.

	The growl made her pause until she realized he liked what she was doing. It was soothing to her, and it seemed to be to him as well. They probably both could use a little comfort right now.
