The black strapless dress fit just right and Sydney looked at her reflection in the full length mirror. The clock showed 5:45. Nervousness gripped Sydney as she turned to look at her side and back. The dress had been a spur of the moment purchase during a shopping trip and now Syd was glad she had made it. She had bought it for a date with Simon, but now it was being used for a date with Avery. How fast things changed.

Syd put on a little makeup just to shake things up. She didn't normally wear it, but this was a formal date after all. With Avery. If she was moving on from Simon, she was going to do it right. Was she moving on? Had Simon already moved on? She hadn't seen him and she wasn't going to go out of her way to see him either.

Syd wiped her sweaty palms off on the side of her dress and then chided herself for doing it. Oh man was she nervous. She couldn't remember the last time she was this nervous. It was just a date. Right?

Syd slipped her feet into a pair of black heels and took a deep breath. She could do this. One last glance in the mirror and another deep breath.

	"The both of you are very important to me, too, Sydeny. Which is why I want you to know that I'm here for you and Zoey." Avery says. 	"Well, compared to me, you are." he says. "I still can't believe you're able to find the time to work on your doctorate. I think that's pretty amazing, Syd." Avery tells her. 	"Hopefully I will have more time when it comes to work on that," Syd said as she climbed out of the car. "I don't plan to stay in the business world that long." Avery and Sydney walk into the new museum and find it heavily occupied by other visitors tonight. There are a lot of people here for the opening, and a great many of California's top politicians are here. Avery can't help but think that his father would have a field day here. So would Adrian.

The first stop for the pair is a Mongol Empire exhibit, claiming to have the sword that Genghis Khan wielded when he was in the field.

"Those days must have been interesting to live in." Avery says. "They got by on so much less than we've got right now. I think a lot of people would be in bad shape if we lost all of the luxuries we currently have." Avery comments.

	"Lead the way, Mr. Crittenden," Syd said as she picked up the change in subject. History was depressing in a lot of areas and some people were uncomfortable talking about those areas. 	"Sounds good. No Norse culture." he says, escorting her to the next exhibit. "I always wanted to be a knight when I was a kid. I learned to ride a horse in hopes of being 'Sir Avery' and wooing a beautiful woman to gain her favor." he says. "And darn. I forgot my horse tonight. Promise not to count it against me?" he asks. "You look beautiful in the dress that you're in, Sydney. Besides, I like leaving some things to the imagination." he says.

"As for favor, you said yes to a date with me. I'm going to go ahead and say that that's a good start. I'll update you on our progress as it develops." he smiles, looking at the coat of arms they pass.

"Hm. This one reminds me of my own family's coat of arms." he says.

"I'd like it if you'd think about coming with us, when we go. The three of us would have a great time, and I'm sure Zoey wouldn't want you to be here all by yourself." he says. 	Avery blinked. "You know Captain America?" he asks in a whisper. "Like, you're on a first name basis wit him?" Avery realizes he should have known this.
