Not clogging the filter
"Too hot..." Jake groans to the sky in general. 90+ degree weather plus humidity is bad enough for some people. But for a young man covered in fur...it's bad. As such, Jake has come out to the pool. Definitely a sign that the heat is bad...Jake took off his shirt! That's a shock. The DarkForce wielding mutant is just in bright red board shorts and floating lazily around the pool this warm afternoon.

Thankfully, some people can keep their fur at bay. Chris wanders on down as well, towel slung over her shoulder and sporting a new two-piece. (She's good, but bathing suits fit for actually getting wet are outside her skill-set.)

"Hey there elf, how's it going?" She smiles as she spots Jake.

"I think I may melt unless I spontaneously manifest Mr. Drake's mutant powers," Jake replies before it registers that he's actually speaking to someone else. When it does, the fuzzy teen lets out a little squeak and turns quickly...only to slip under the surface of the water. He resurfaces a moment later with a shy expression. "Hi."

Chris smiles and sits down at the edge of the pool, dipping her legs in first and tossing her towel onto a chair.

"Hi yourself. Just you out here?" She grins and kicks her legs back and forth a little.

Jake nods a little, trying not to raise up too much. He's shirtless so he's a bit more shy than usual. "There were others out here earlier but they went inside to watch the soccer game."

"Oh yeah, the cup. Not really my think. I like alternative sports, myself. And air conditioning's no match for a good soak." She smiles as she slips off the edge and into the pool, paddling past him.

Jake smiles a little more. "I am not a fan of the cup either. What do you mean by alternative sports?" he asks, a little confused there. When Chris starts paddling around, Jake turns to keep facing her.

"You know, performance biking or skateboarding. Snowboarding, motocross... the term is so played out, but 'extreme' sports." She rolls over in the water, diving down and swimming underneath him, coming up on the other side.

"I like stuff outside the norm."

"Oh," Jake perks up a little. "Those are interesting sports. I tried to skateboard once but it didn't go well," he laughs. The sudden dive makes Jake jump. He lets out a little 'eep' and turns quickly. He was a little worried he would be dunked. When he's not the fuzzy teen calms a little. "You do?"

"Absolutely." Chris swings her head to flip her hair back. "I've got no time for normal stuff in my life." She grins.

Boy but he's skittish. It's kinda cute on him though.

Jake blinks at this, giving a confused little expression. "You don't? Why not?" he asks.

She pauses at the question, then smirks.

"Because normal doesn't interest me." She swims past him, watching him with a ponderous expression.

Jake looks up thoughtfully, treading water as he does. "But, isn't normal subjective? I mean..." he gives his bottom lip a little worrying with a fang before going on. "Isn't what you call 'non-standard' actually 'normal' for you?"

"That's the point." Chris replies, transforming.

"I'm...not human, but I'm not a mutant either. I'm whatever comes from Dad swimming in irregular particle radiation for a decade, plus the mystic whatever surrounding Mom. Normal was never an option for me, so I don't waste my time on what most of the world considers normal."

Jake jumps at the transformation and ends up falling under the water again. He sputters when he resurfaces, just a bit surprised.

"Oh. I guess that makes sense," he says.
