Pomp and Circumstance
Bendy-timed to before a couple of days before Loki showed up

Grace fidgeted with the sleeves of her black robe. The gold tassel from her cap dangled in front of her face.

She was graduating from high-school. Sure, it wasn't the school that she had started out at, but she did it. She'd put in the hard work, and she'd soon have the diploma to prove it.

The speeches having been over and done with, Grace stood in line with the kids from her row to get her diploma. As long as she didn't trip, everything would be perfect. Dad and the Defenders were somewhere in the crowd. She'd even told Zoey to invite Avery along. Her Mom had flown in from Boston to see her daughter graduate.

Grace could feel her heartbeat start to speed up, as she got closer to the platform.

"Grace Elizabeth Danvers!" Her name was called out by the vice-principal and she walked across the stage, taking her diploma from the principal, a wide grin on her face.

When all the names had been called and all of the seniors had officially graduated, Grace tossed her cap into the air along with the rest of the students. Then, picking it up, she rushed off to find the Defenders and her Mom. Mom had booked a room at a local restaurant for them to have all of them to have a nice dinner.

	Avery claps for Grace as her name is read and cheers. Grace is a friend of Zoey's and Sydney's so Avery definitely wants to be here for this. The young woman looks familiar to him, but he can't place exactly how he knows her or her name. He's still working that out as they head off to dinner at the restaurant. (Reply to this)(Thread)

	Zoey of course stood up and cheered loudly when Grace's name was called. She had never been to a graduation, or for that matter really knew what one was, but it was important to Grace. Apparenly she won a prize or something. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	It had been seven years since her own graduation from high school, three since Dawn'd graduated from college. Grace's brought back pleasant memories of both. Way to go, girl, she thought as she watched. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Syd sat on the other side of Zoey across from Avery. It was strange, but they felt like a little family sitting there. Syd shook off the feeling and paid attention to the ceremonies. She was proud of Grace for her accomplishment and all the hard work the girl had put into graduating. Syd had cheered along side of Zoey when Grace's name was called. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Grace held the bracelet in her hand, almost in awe before she fastened it on her wrist. "This is beautiful. Thank you." She opened the books, smiling. "Thanks Dawn," she said, reaching over to give to her a hug. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Well, of all the things she'd been expecting tonight, this was so low on the list that Dawn didn't know where to begin. And she couldn't even begin to imagine what this must be like to Grace. She kept quite, not thinking of anything appropriate to say. (Reply to this)(Parent)

	Syd excused herself from the table to head to the restroom. She needed a few moments to compose herself and get her head back on straight. Avery got Zoey duty for a few minutes. In the restroom Syd ran a paper towel under cold water and wiped her face with it. She swore quietly in a few different languages. (Reply to this)(Thread)

	"It's not easy on me, either," she said, "Especially now that Grace was just getting to know him." She'd thought a lot in the past couple of months how big of a mistake it had been to hide her from him all the years.
