Between Marlow and Dawn the Defenders had managed to track the shadow demons who had abducted Svalin to the gates of Hades. Countless shades wandered on the shores of the river Acheron. These were the paupers and the friendless, those who did not possess an obolus to pay Charon.

A small boat floated on the dark waters of the river and the cloaked figure of Charon stood in the boat waiting to ferry souls across the river. A skeletal hand clutched a pole and the other was outstretched waiting to receive a fare for crossing.

On the other side of the river stood a large three headed dog and a large two headed dog. Cerebus and Orthus guarded the entrance into Pluto's realm.

First, Matt Walker tried setting up an appointment with Anya Stark the old-fashioned way. He called, introduced himself and asked if he could speak to her on a matter of legal importance. When the person on the other end asked if he was a lawyer, and Matt said no, they hung up on him. The second day, he tried again, but pretended to be with one of those gossip magazines. And there were still her brothers and sisters to find.  They were out there in the ocean, somewhere, alone and frightened.

But for now...

For now, she had other issues to deal with.   She kept the lights off in her room

Dropping In (Amanda) @ 11:36 pm

Akantha usually didn't encroach into another Guardian's territory, but a contact of hers had given her a heads up about a necklace that was of interest. Rumor had it that it once belonged to Helen of Troy and could charm men when worn. Akantha had her doubts, but she had to check it out. It was her job after all.

The necklace was in Washington D.C. and Baltimore wasn't that far away. After she had checked out the necklace and realized it was a fake, she headed north to Baltimore to visit an old friend. She could have knocked on the door, but where was the fun in that? She picked the lock and let herself in.

"Anyone home?"
