After leaving the hospital, Anselm found a grimy room in a rundown motel. It was like every other room he'd ever stayed in, just enough for his immediate needs and nothing more. He made arrangements to have it for the next two weeks. Surely the doctor's police friend could figure out what was mugging old men in the city in that length of time. If she hadn't pressed him to talk to the officer, he would've been on his way out of town already.

Once the room situation was settled, he took two painkillers, bolted the door and tried to get some sleep. The bed was lumpy, his backpack made a hard pillow, and it was still better than some of the places he'd slept in over the centuries.

After dark, he ventured out to get some dinner. The tiny room didn't even have a hot plate although the argument could be made for an outdoor icebox to keep something cold. If the window hadn't been painted shut years ago. Then again, the room itself was cold enough to store meat.

Valentine's Day had been busy to say the least. Getting married in Vegas and the flying back to New York for the charity auction left little time to tell the parents that Anya and Steve got married. So the solution was to invite them all to dinner on the fifteenth and break the news to them that way.

Anya made reservations at The Capital Grille for a private room and then sent invites to her parents and Steve's parents. Privacy was needed because she wasn't quite sure what the reactions would be.

Anya put on a simple black dress, heels and did her hair. She arrived with Steve and were shown to the private room and their table. She held his hand while they waited for the parents to arrive.

Zoey /loved/ visiting New York because it meant seeing Scotty. It was Valentine's Day and Mom and Dad had some auction thing to go to and that meant Mr. and Mrs. Vernard would be babysitting the two of them. Zoey had a card that she made for Scotty and the Super Buddies DVDs for him.

Mr. Vernard had given both of them a very specific set of rules about what they were allowed and not allowed to do. They didn't mean to cause trouble the last few times, but it just seemed like trouble found them. They didn't plan on all those things happening.

As it was they were in the living room playing with Scotty's Super Buddies DVDs and playing with his Super Buddies toys.
