All-New, All-Different X-Force! Island Boogie
With the speed of the Blackbird, the six X-Men were able to reach the island, located in an otherwise empty stretch of the Pacific Ocean, in almost no time at all. The island looked as though it had been untouched by man for centuries. Thick jungle had grown without limits and a towering volcano could be seen rising from the center. A thick swampland dotted one end. There was no sign of life, no sign of the Blackbird that had brought the other team.

There was an almost sinister feel about the whole thing.

	"Me too," Rose replied. No sign of any more birds as the got closer to the volcano, but something more was coming, she could feel it in her bones. The ground beneath them started rumbling and before them, creatures of rock started to rise out of the earth itself. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	The creatures were made of rock, but Joey's flames were hot enough to sear even them. One went down already, but the other two were still moving. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Joey fires another blast of heat at the rock creature Rose just attacked, though it's not as intense as the previous one. He realizes he's going to need the energy in case things get hotter further up the volcano, no pun intended. If the second one goes down, he will fire if it isn't too close to Rose. 	Rose added with own blasts to Joey's, and working together, the two of them are able to bring it down. The third one had gotten close in that time, and reached out with surprising speed, striking Rose and sending her flying. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	When Rose goes flying, Joey makes a rookie mistake and takes his eye off his enemy. In the back of his head, Joey knows Rose is a lot tougher than she looks, but worry crowds his reactions. Foxx taught him better than that, but he doesn't remember it in the face of the attack. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Joey's world erupts into pain as the creature attacks, sending him flying as well. He slams against the side of a wall and falls to the floor. He's still conscious, but when it suddenly hurts to breathe, he wishes he wasn't. He can taste blood in his mouth, and tries to look for Rose, but the whole world is spinning. Rose slowly got to her feet, trying to focus past the stabbing pain that was making it difficult to breathe. Her ribs were already reknitting, but that didn't mean it didn't hurt like heck.

With a roar, she leap at the rock creature, sinking her claws a little bit into the stone of its body. Her claws were only bone, but they were the hardest bones in her body. With them implanted in the rock monster, she fired her psi-blasts. This close, even with whatever intelligence was animating them, it fell apart.

Rose barely managed to avoid collapsing herself when she hit the ground. Instead, she rushed to Joey's side.

"You... okay, Bub?"

"I'm good, Rose. You okay?" Joey asks, trying not to seem like he's staring at two different visions of Rose. His head is still spinning, but it's hurting less to breathe, so he's pretty sure his ribs are just bruised, not actually broken.

"Okay, so...we beat the birds, and the cave walls. Now, we just beat the rock monsters. I think we qualify for bein' allowed to go the rest of the way without trouble." he says, pants, trying to get to his feet.

His legs feel like spaghetti, but he gets up.

	"Hey, what happened to the power of positive thinkin'? Last I recall, it got me a date with you." Joey smirks, still unsteady on his feet. His eyes aren't focusing well, so she can assume he's got a concussion. There are minor cuts and scrapes upon him, otherwise. "Come on. 	To say she was worried about him was an understatement. She knew a concussion when she saw one. But with the path behind them sealed back up and neither or them able to go through solid rock... 	"Sounds good, let's get there." he says, following her to the cave as quickly as he's able. "Hey, are the scents getting any better for you around here or is all still messed up?" he asks.
