All-New, All-Different X-Force! Island Boogie
With the speed of the Blackbird, the six X-Men were able to reach the island, located in an otherwise empty stretch of the Pacific Ocean, in almost no time at all. The island looked as though it had been untouched by man for centuries. Thick jungle had grown without limits and a towering volcano could be seen rising from the center. A thick swampland dotted one end. There was no sign of life, no sign of the Blackbird that had brought the other team.

There was an almost sinister feel about the whole thing.

	Rose spared only a single glance to make sure Joey was keeping up, but the two made it out of the canyon before the walls would have crushed them. The birds? Were not so lucky. "...Startin' to get the impression this place has it in for us?" (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Joey can't believe this crap!

"The walls just tried to smash us while the birds were trying to kills us!" he pants. This place, whatever it is, is nuts.

"Yeah, I'm gettin' that feelin' and it's startin' to piss me off. How do we know it hasn't done away with the other people we're lookin' for already?" he asks.

If this place can try to kill them, it might be smart enough to cover its tracks, too.

	"Let me guess," Joey says, sure he knows the answer this question, "you got no reception on the communicator. Which means it's just us." This day was getting better and better. "Usually the people with the high ground make out better than those who don't have it. I really hope our people aren't in the volcano, though." Joey says.

"That's a little too much Tolkien for me, and no, I'm not gonna cast it into the fire, just so we're clear." he says, letting her take the lead. She's got better senses than him, so she might catch the hint of an ambush before it lands on top of them.

Those words are music to Joey's ears.

"We are going to survive this, rescue our people AND survive the plane trip home. You know how to motivate a guy, Professor Rose." Joey says, keeping an eye out behind them, just in case. He also looks upward, to make sure there aren't any other birds closing in.

"I hope the others are doin' okay." Joey says. It would be terrible luck to get through all this just to find out it's him and Rose vs the island with all their teammates' lives on the line, in addition to the X-Men trapped here.

	Joey fires another blast of heat at the rock creature Rose just attacked, though it's not as intense as the previous one. He realizes he's going to need the energy in case things get hotter further up the volcano, no pun intended. If the second one goes down, he will fire if it isn't too close to Rose. 	Rose added with own blasts to Joey's, and working together, the two of them are able to bring it down. The third one had gotten close in that time, and reached out with surprising speed, striking Rose and sending her flying. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	When Rose goes flying, Joey makes a rookie mistake and takes his eye off his enemy. In the back of his head, Joey knows Rose is a lot tougher than she looks, but worry crowds his reactions. Foxx taught him better than that, but he doesn't remember it in the face of the attack. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Joey's world erupts into pain as the creature attacks, sending him flying as well. He slams against the side of a wall and falls to the floor. He's still conscious, but when it suddenly hurts to breathe, he wishes he wasn't. He can taste blood in his mouth, and tries to look for Rose, but the whole world is spinning. Rose slowly got to her feet, trying to focus past the stabbing pain that was making it difficult to breathe. Her ribs were already reknitting, but that didn't mean it didn't hurt like heck.

With a roar, she leap at the rock creature, sinking her claws a little bit into the stone of its body. Her claws were only bone, but they were the hardest bones in her body. With them implanted in the rock monster, she fired her psi-blasts. This close, even with whatever intelligence was animating them, it fell apart.

Rose barely managed to avoid collapsing herself when she hit the ground. Instead, she rushed to Joey's side.

"You... okay, Bub?"

"I'm good, Rose. You okay?" Joey asks, trying not to seem like he's staring at two different visions of Rose. His head is still spinning, but it's hurting less to breathe, so he's pretty sure his ribs are just bruised, not actually broken.

"Okay, so...we beat the birds, and the cave walls. Now, we just beat the rock monsters. I think we qualify for bein' allowed to go the rest of the way without trouble." he says, pants, trying to get to his feet.

His legs feel like spaghetti, but he gets up.

	"Hey, what happened to the power of positive thinkin'? Last I recall, it got me a date with you." Joey smirks, still unsteady on his feet. His eyes aren't focusing well, so she can assume he's got a concussion. There are minor cuts and scrapes upon him, otherwise. "Come on.
