Joey's world erupts into pain as the creature attacks, sending him flying as well. He slams against the side of a wall and falls to the floor. He's still conscious, but when it suddenly hurts to breathe, he wishes he wasn't.

He can taste blood in his mouth, and tries to look for Rose, but the whole world is spinning. He knows a concussion when he feels it.
