When it was finally all over, Giovanna stood looking over Andrew, who was sitting in a chair in the appropriate part of their suite, with concern. And many other feelings as well, but the concern needed handling first. "You're all right?"

He sits and absorbs that for a few moments, looking stunned. So she's a murderer now? Yes, the guy was scum... but he honestly believes his dad's talk about how that just brings you down to the enemy's level. How Alex couldn't even forgive himself for killing Brood.

"I... don't know what to say." he responds, after fighting the nausea back down. "I was so worried about you... and you were... what, off hunting him down?"

He slumps back, a little defeated looking. She doesn't understand, maybe can't. Hers is not his moral code, but should it be?
Enough thoughts race through his mind, trying to find any kind of comfort zone in all this that doesn't leave him nauseous, before, as ever, he takes refuge, to a degree, in books, letting someone else sum up his thoughts for him.

"One day you will ask me which is more important? My life or yours? I will say mine, and you will walk away not knowing that you are my life."

He can't look at her, lowering his eyes, his voice sad. "Ever is a long time. Right now... no, I can't. But that doesn't mean I don't love you."

	Giovanna's not entirely certain how the Gibran reference fits in, but he still loves her. That helps. She'd still like to cut her own heart out right now, though. "I love you, Andrew. I can keep my distance for a while -- as much as possible without endangering your safety again -- if that would help you." Her voice is a little strained. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

She can ask him about that sometime, and a lot of comparative ethics, and how he can possibly work for an island full of people who condoned terrible things far beyond murder so tirelessly. He has to believe that people can be better, and sometimes that requires putting his revulsion for their deeds aside, and try and keep believing. His feelings about her haven't changed, somehow. His life, and his work and his ethics can't be first in his mind, believing people can be something better has to be, and he has to believe that someday, if they can work through this, maybe she'll understand.

"I'm going to need you in the next few days. What just happened did a lot of damage, and I'm going to have work to do. A lot of work. If that weren't there, I don't know right now if I most want to tell you to go away, or give me some space, or to hold you close and try and start to get past some of this ugliness. So I'm on autopilot here... I need you, and I need your help."

He stands up, then puts his arms around her and kisses her, if she lets him.
"We start by working on us. I'm not sure where a lot of things are going to go, but I've been in love with you for too long to let this come between us. We're going to talk, if it will do any good. I'm going to try hard to see things your way, and I hope you'll give me the same credit, and maybe we find some ground we can live on. But not tonight. Tonight, I have my girlfriend back, who I've been worried sick about. I want to wine you and dine you and kiss you goodnight, and we can pick up emergency calls from a dozen prime ministers, a mountain of paperwork and emergency challenges to lawsuits, and contacting various mutant and human rights organizations and legal foundations tomorrow, 5 AM, I'll need you to wake me up. Right now, is it ok if I'm just happy to see you safe?"

	She does, indeed, let him kiss her. It's not something they've had much chance for since That Cur showed up, but she can't think of that now. She listens, and nods, and says "I'll do my best." She nods again at the last part. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"We're going to have some tough days ahead, I won't lie to you. But we're going to deal with it together, and work the rest out." he replies, kissing her again. This is hard, he wants to try and deal with everything right now, but he's also pretty sure that won't help anything. At least he can let her know he still loves her, despite everything, as a point to start healing from.

"I'm going to go find some reservations I shouldn't be able to make. Go get dressed up. I'm tired of human and mutant wars... I think I want to be a spoiled teenager tonight." he replies, trying to find a smile to go with the words.

She nods and does her best to manage a smile herself. That he still loves her is much more than she deserves, she's quite sure. She couldn't understand his Views, but that didn't change the fact that she'd hurt him, and even more didn't change the fact that she'd run out on him.

When she goes into her room, she'll decide on the green dress. Not merely because she likes green; it's the most modest of her very nice ones, so it'll cover the remaining bruises.

His physical injuries are long gone. Given enough juice, he has one of the best healing factors on the planet, its all about how much energy he can absorb. The other injuries... those will take a lot longer to heal. He's happy to see her, that much was true, he missed her, worried about her. And they can work through this, right? After all, its not his course, not his ethics, but Breakneck was a murderer and rapist, and tried to make it personal between them. That, by itself, had him angry enough he entirely believes he could have killed him in their one fight - in the moment, not going after him with an agenda.

Yeah, these back and forths in his own head are going to last a while. And his perfect woman is a little less perfect. But she's still the girl he fell in love with, he just has to remember that, for tonight, anyway. The rest can wait.

She'll be ready when he is. And when they head out, she'll do her best not to look like she's twice as on her guard about their surroundings as her usual attentiveness. Nothing is helped if she jumps at shadows.

She'll try to relax. She'll let him steer the conversation initially.

And she'll try to ignore the little voice that always knew full well she wasn't right for him in the first place.
