Walking The Realm
He'd been gone a very very long time. Not so long by the standards of Asgardians, or even by the standards of many of Midgard, but for Vincent Amorason Richardsson, having half his blood of mortal stock and only eighteen years to walk the worlds, a very long time indeed.

The Golden Realm was largely unchanging, even in the aftermath of such battle. It's architecture, the palpable hum of magic and divinity, the ever-present sensation of metal and beasts of war. It was almost suffocating, for one used to the ever-changing city of New York. It was a comfort to him to have Asleif accompanying him as he ventured out into it again, finally released from custody by the healers. The experience was humbling. For those who noticed him at all, he seemed to be regarded with a mixture of confusion and wariness. His form was frail by comparison to others, even if others could not 'sense' his mixed heritage. Frailty was not something that was allowed to thrive in Asgard, even among the ranks of mages rather than warriors.

He kept his head high as he walked alongside her. If anyone had anything to say to him, they held it for now. He seemed to be able to go about his business unmolested. All the better, for there were a precious few individuals he wished to visit while he was here, for however long he was here.

Vincent smiles broadly. "It is most relieving to hear that." He gives her an affectionate pat on the shoulder. "I still have much of New York to show you."

In what would surprise many who knew her, Asleif makes no show of discomfort at the touching. "I wouldst like that," she said. "Tis quite the city."

"With a truly shocking variety of cuisines, at the very least. True, Asgard has it's hosts of mead halls and cooked meats, but they lack some of the subtlety and nuance of finer dining."

He tilts his head and smirks. "Perhaps a weekly engagement for some venue of culture, preceded by lunch or followed by dinner?"

"Twould be most enjoyable," she replied. "I wouldst like that greatly."

She did smile a touch. "Table manners, at least, do seem to hold more sway in the mortal realm."

Vincent chuckles. "I try to spare myself the agony of attending any meal with more than two forks, barring ones that are actually useful due to their differences, but yes, there is a certain elevated sense of propriety."

"We've also come quite far since mead. Wine and cocktails are another great diversity. Not that I shy away from a hot spiced mug, that is."

"I admit, I hath developed a fondness for mortal teas," Asleif confessed.

"Such different worlds, Asgard and Midgard. One locked in its own stagnation, the other changing in lifespans."

He nods. "Kristoff knows an excellent recipe for witch hazel tea I can ask him for. I'll prepare some for you when we return home... well, to Midgard."

Vincent shakes his head. "Asgard moves in lifetimes as well, they are much longer though. I regret nothing in committing myself to a destiny in the breaking of the world though. Life is defined by how it is lived, not how it ends."

"Mine thanks," she replied.

She said nothing for a moment, then responded. "I doth wonder, at times. But tis a most depressing topic for such a pleasant day."

Vincent furrows his brow, then puts hands on both of her shoulders, turning her to face him, stopping in his tracks.

"No. Although manners would prevent me from saying it so loudly in the golden realm, you are no more of your fore-bearers than the product of their blood. You are not their actions or choices." He smiles softly. "There is mischief in you, but it is your own. You are no more Loki than I am my blood parents."

"You have mine thanks for thine words, Vincent," Asleif replied. "And I shalt consider them at length. Mine doubts shalt I wrestle with for a time, before I canst become the victor."
