Avery was actually a few minutes late, having made sure he was getting all of his ducks in a row regarding Zoey. He'd made sure to pose the hypothetical questions to a family law lawyer he knew, and assured Cecelia that he'd be home soon. Even so, he might have taken a little longer getting ready and spent more effort on the doing than was necessary.

He was still hoping, deep down, that Sydney would allow him to be involved in Zoey's life. He'd already missed so much, he wanted to get to know the little girl right away if he could.

When he walked in, he was taken to the table, only to find Sydney waiting there already. He offered her his most charming smile, then sat down across from her, taking off his coat.

"You look great, Sydney." he says, looking around the restaurant for a moment.

"We've both come a long way from the coffee shop we met in years ago. I still have my guitar." he smiled.
