It's the Greatest Show on Earth!
The van that turned down the street in front of the Champion's home looked like any other brown delivery truck. Black and gold letters painting it's side and a man in a uniform consisting of a hat, button-up shirt and shorts the same drab color of his van looking as bored as one could with his job. The van stopped just short of the former night club's entrance. The delivery driver turned around in his seat and rummaged around for the small package he had for the inhabitants.

Hopping out of his van, 10x10 box tucked under his arm, he headed to the door and rapped on it three times. Not waiting for an answer - there was no signature confirmation requested - he set it on the top step and went back to his van, signed off on his clipboard and started the vehicle up.

By the time the door to the old club opened, he was already driving away to carry on with the rest of his deliveries.

The brown cardboard box, ten inches by exactly ten inches was addressed to The Most Worthy 'Champion' and weighed perhaps three pounds at the most. There was no return address.

As she began to sing, the hawks above, already agitated by the lack of places to land and the odd stream of sand now falling down the middle of their limited space, homed in on their new target. Dropping claws first at Lyta, they aimed for her large wings and exposed head. Hoping to rend and tear and stop this new noisy threat. It was instinct really. They couldn't tell that her warbling, however off key it was, had made the sand fall slower.

Lyta took to the air, flying to dodge the hawks flying at her.

Of course, with her focus currently being on trying not to get her wings clawed to shreds, she stopped singing.

With a lack of sound, the sand began falling in a stronger stream and at the same time, the birds stopped attacking. Still agitated, still looking to get out, but no longer feeling the need to go after the one who had made such a horrible screech in the middle of all this strangeness.

She'd stay airborne as long as she could, flying around to avoid the sand falling and hitting her wings.

Lyta began to sing again, in a softer tone as not agitate the hawks again.

"Just a city boy, born and raised in South Detroit. He took the midnight train going anywhere."

Apparently, she wasn't singing loud enough because the stream of sand did not lessen in the slightest. It seemed whoever had set this up had rigged it so a large, continuous noise would keep the sand from falling, but make the birds agitated enough to attack... while being quiet would keep the birds from attacking, but make the sand fall at full force.

Damn. Couldn't sing too loudly otherwise the birds would attach her again. Couldn't sing too softly or otherwise the sand would just flow faster and kill her more quickly.

"A singer in a smoky room, the smell of wine and cheap perfume," Not too loudly, but in a tone that hopefully wouldn't irritate the birds. "For a smile they can share the night, it goes on and on and on and on..."

The area around the top of the cage was not very big, as the bars curved inward to meet at the middle where the sand poured from. But as she flew past the stream, trying to sing in a manner that would slow the sand and not upset the birds, she could see a slight lessening of the flow. She had to cut close to the stream, perhaps hover only feet from it to keep the sound noticiable to the hidden microphone... but how long could she keep herself there, singing? The stream wouldn't stop, not with the level of noise she had to keep to so the birds wouldn't attack her. It would become a waiting game.

She just had to keep this up until she could find a way to get free or one of the other found her. She could do this.

"Strangers, waiting up down the boulevard. Their shadows searching in the night. Streelights people, living just to find emotion. Hiding, somewhere in the night."

Despite her best attempts to keep steady and not raise her voice, the hawks were getting ever more agitated. The sand was a good quarter of the way up the cage. Space to fly was becoming precious and the hawks wanted to be where Lyta was. The higher they flew, the more her own wing beats interfered with their flight paths and what little thermals existed in the enclosed space.

The began throwing themselves at the mutant once more. Screeching their anger, claws out to rend flesh and feathers from the bones that held Lyta together.

Lyta flew backwards, knocking into the wall. She fell to the ground, her wings landing in the sand. Lyta struggled to get up, but the sand fell on her wings, weighting her down.

The glass reverberates with the wail of a banshee. Even the predators have to give way and retreat in their cage, though they'll be free to fly soon. The wail alone isn't enough to break the glass, but it does begin to shake with the growl of an oncoming engine, coming hard and fast. She just needs to hold on a little longer...

And she's doing just that, holding her breath as her head slipped under the sand.

He presses a hand against the glass. The pentagram carved into the Rider's bony hand flares up, the glass glowing hotter and hotter before it shatters, sand bursting and flooding out.

And Lyta came out with the sand, coughing as she gasped for air, shaking her wings to get the sand out.

"Thanks..." she managed when she caught her breath.

Nick isn't home right now. There may be some synthesis, but all of his will is going towards convincing the symbiotic entity to rescue the innocents, and give them time before he torches this whole Godforsaken place.
There's no welcome, no sign of recognition, to hand up. He just pushes Alisa's unconscious body at her in a 'take care of her' manner, and guns the engine.

Someone is going to pay. Someone is going to pay dearly.

Take Alisa in her arms, Lyta went about finding a way out, and getting Alisa to safety.

Alisa's body seemed to contort in Lyta's arms, shaking again, and then going back into a limp state. She was still breathing, which was a good thing. It meant she wasn't dead, and not as bad off as she looked.

"Shh..." Lyta whispered, stroking the other girl's hair to calm her down. The fact that she was at least breathing steadily was good.

Alisa groaned, her whole body was hurting her badly. She felt like every muscle had been twisted and distorted in some horrible fashion. But she did her best to push through that pain, she had to. The Champions needed her, Ennie needed her. Her red on black eyes opened, looking up at Lyta.

"Lyta..." Her voice was barely above a whisper. "Ah... ah t'ink... ah can disable... sumt'ing in dis p-place. When... when i touched de pannel in de room ah was in... ah... ah could feel dat it was connected... to an outside... power supply. if... if ah can get to it... ah... ah might be able to disable it... long enough to 'elp others..."

The only way she was able to "feel" the source of the power supply in her room, would be if the technology was connected to what she felt in that room.

"Please... ah wanna 'elp..."

Lyta gave her a concerned look. "Are you sure you're up to it? I understand wanting to help, but I don't want you to strain yourself. You're already in pretty shape."

"Oui... ah know ah look bad... ah feel worse... but we don' got no choice." She sighed, narrowing her eyes at Lyta. "If ah... don' disable some o' dis park... we're gonna... 'ave more casualties... ah can' live wit' dat over mah head... knowin' ah coulda done sumt'ing an' didn' . Please... jus' let mah do dis, Lyta... let mah 'elp."

Lyta nodded, "Understandable. But I'm not just going to sit here and wait why you try and fix this. You're injured and I won't have you be going out there by yourself."

"D-dat's true..." She sighed, shaking her head. "When... when ah was in mah... section o' dis place... ah realized sumt'ing. Non everyone gonna be dere... to 'elp me. It's time... ah started ta 'elp mahself, an' others. Mais, enough o' d-dat... de box dat was in m-mah room... it felt like a power source... l-like a fuse box. Lyta picked her up. "Then's let go outside than," she flew them outside, looking for the fusebox.
