Field Test
Ezra Kane had been most pleased with the tech provided by Senator Sloane. So far the results were encouraging, but he needed his team to do a real field test. He knew the perfect test to do with the two mutants that Crosshairs and Bloodlust had brought in.

He looked at Phobia and Crosshairs. "You know what to do. Get in, take a look around, get any information you can and then get out. Spectre will be waiting for you call for extraction."

He was more at home in Salem Center than just about anywhere else in the world. There were advantages to having more conventional schooling at the local schools.

He settled down across from Natasha and ordered Pad Thai as well, along with a chicken dish and a beef dish, and a soda. It would help finish healing.

The amount of food Mom ordered made him wonder, but even she had to eat more than a couple of mouthfuls of real food.

"How's everyone in the city doing?" he asked after the waitress left.

"Good," she said and left out the part that he'd know if he bothered to visit once and awhile. She was cranky, but that was a part of being pregnant. "Your sister is home for a week. Eliza's settled in New Orleans. James is spending a lot of time with Valeria. Tony's working around the clock. So everything is about normal."

Natasha sipped her tea. "How's school going?"

	She got the hint. He didn't want to talk about it. She remembered a time when he used to tell her everything. "Something like that. Valeria's a good kid and James seems to really like her. He chuckled. "I was the only boy my age living at the mansion and they made me play house. All I knew was that you're supposed to be married if you play house with a girl. The only thing I didn't know was that you're only supposed to have one wife."

He stretched his legs out, resting his feet against her booth seat. "I have every confidence James will come through like a champ. David's doing well. Putting in extra time training. Dad's thinking about starting him with a practice sword."

"Their mothers will be relieve that every one will toss me over for a more faithful husband." He winked and reached over to pat her hand.

His sessions with Xavier were on hold now that there were others that needed the time more. Mom didn't need to hear that and worry more. "I'm doing all right. Sleeping a little more. One day I might drink vodka again. What kind of Russian am I that can't hold his vodka?"
