For all that she's highly skilled, Mikhaila still requires touch to make her powers work, and she came in knowing Cait's powers had the greater utility.
She drops to the ground under a tentacle and the ice, touching the floor, trying to freeze the water there long enough to hold Cait still long enough while she realizes what's happening, and controls the puddles to free her feet - trying to immobilize her opponent long enough to go for a diving tackle at the knees.
