Gabriel stepped back and threw up his arms to guard his face. He avoided the knife swipe, but the fireball sent him stumbling back and he let out a yelp from the pain on his arms. He had burns all over his body, and it was harder for him to fight inside than it was outside (especially with burned wings).

And the setting was uncomfortable as well. By this time, the foyer was set on fire, thanks to the previous flaming tornado. The sound of flames made it harder for Gabriel to hear key noise, but it also let him focus more on the battle at hand. He also noticed the wooden desk leg still stuck in the pyrokinetic, which he now understood seemed to be powered up by Scarab's blood (judging from what Scarab did earlier).

Gabriel made a dash over the pyrokinetic and kicked at the wooden desk leg, trying to open the wound more.
