Giving Thanks
"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." JFK

In America today is a day for being thankful for the things in people's lives. Today was a day to celebrate family, friends, prosperity and health with food, family and friends. It is a time to reflect on what is important us and to recognize the gratitude we hold for having those things in our lives.

Jarvis of course prepared the Thanksgiving meal for the Avengers. The dining room table had been set with the finest crystal and china and he recruited hands to help lay out the traditional Thanksgiving fare.

Sersi loved Thanksgiving and she loved Jarvis' cooking so she was at the Avengers Mansion for the holiday. She bottles of French wine from the early 1920s and scotch that was at least thirty years old.

Sif didn't understand most mortal holidays and celebrations, but she could understand being thankful. She helped where she could, but she wasn't exactly good with domestic things.

Jen stayed far away from the cooking, but she helped set things out.

Tony arrives and sees Jen, offering a big smile.

"Well, if there was ever a sight to be thankful for, Jen, it's you. I'm glad you made it." he says.

Bad guys didn't take a break and neither did SHIELD. Nick was working but the mess was serving a turkey dinner. He would go down and grab a bite when Val was ready.

SHIELD fed its agents well. Dinner in the mess was a surprisingly cheerful experience. Val had everything to be thankful for right here.

Bobby wasn't allowed anywhere near the kitchen, on the account that he always kept trying to swipe slices of apple pie before they were set out.

So, he was in the lounge, with a bottle of beer, watching a football game on tv.

Sofia had never celebrated Thanksgiving before. It wasn't like it was a complicated holiday, as she did have things to be thankful for, such as Xaviers taking her in and her new friends. She had never been much of a cook, but she helped set the table, and anything else that she was told to do.

David helps in the kitchen with anything necessary, since he can do it all between all of the culinary skill in the collective area. Someday, he's going to learn do all of this for real, but it's nice to be the chef and know that he's doing it all right.

Pixie wasn't sure about this American Thanksgiving thing. She was, however, curious about pie. She kept peeking into the kitchen.

Logan held down an easy chair watching the football game. It was the safest place to be while the cooking was going on.

Sue was busy with the last minute preparations for food. She'd sent out Johnny earlier to go pick up the desserts, and a football game was on in the living room.

Reed kisses his wife on the cheek from the living room, while trying to distract Franklin and Valeria with football, and other activities. The team did not need a repeat of last year when Johnny told the kids that Uncle Ben would love it if they used the Enlargement Ray to make all the pies bigger so he could eat them.

Reed still wasn't sure that they'd scrubbed all of the pie out of everything, but that was last year. This year, he's watching the children like hawks...even if he's checking out his wife between activities.
