Awkward Phone Calls.
He checked that it was a reasonable hour before he made the call. It felt more appropriate, somehow, than bringing these latest developments to the attention of SHIELD or Dr. Richards.

He called the place he'd found out about in Oklahoma.

"Dr. Kristoff Vernard to speak to Anthony Stark, please."

Kristoff puts in a call to Atlas.

The phone signal is a minor thing to track with his technology, and this call is coming from a very high place that Bob knows is vital to Atlas. So Bob transmits the signal to the closest speaker.

"Atlas Industries. This is Bob Grayson."

"This is Dr. Kristoff Vernard of Latveria. I have previously dealt with Agent Hale and with Her Highness. I wish to discuss Latveria's business with Atlas."

"Ah, yes. What would you like to know?"

So this was the young man Ken spoke to. According to the files he is reviewing psychicly, he was formally adopted by Victor von Doom.

Odd he didn't take the Latverians name.

"I would like to inform the Foundation of some of the details of the first project Latveria is undertaking using Foundation resources. I can only imagine, however, that the foundation must consider this a sensitive subject."

"Yes, that would be a sensitive project, Dr. Vernard. It is why I picked up the phone call from Latveria. At this moment, I am in a weak loop with all the members of the inner circle of Atlas, including with Woo Yen Jet," Bob states as if he were describing the contents of his sock drawer.

"...Ah,' the boy says quietly. "Well, then. Let me explain that Latveria has been contacted about assistance in revamping the dyke and drainage systems of several European cities after the damaging and often fatal floods of last year. Several elements of design are not in Latveria's best capacity, and since I doubted that the Foundation would want any of its highest tech appearing too obviously in projects to save thousands of lives, I am commissioning Stark-Resilient for those design elements. I refused to discuss my funding sources with Stark, he will have to find out third-hand which of my family's nefarious connections I am using," Kristoff adds drily.

"It is understandable that you would want to go with a better known technology for this project, as well as avoiding our best technology such as the M-21 we have donated to you."

Bob pulls his mind back, feeding this information to Jimmy. With a weak loop, the psychic links are not as immediate, but there. Jimmy should be getting the whole picture soon.

"Atlas is minor but omnipresent, so Stark will dig for quite a while. Do go on, doctor."

"...Yes. Thank you again for that, the craftsmanship is lovely. At any rate, Stark should come through without too much delay and installation can begin relatively soon. Once that's established, we can continue with sustainable agriculture efforts in developing countries and mass-producing some prototypes I have to to help undo water pollution." A pause, then, with more boyish cheer than he can normally be heard using, "I of course cannot speak for you or Agent Woo--" Kristoff knows the 'appropriate' title, but he calls only one man Master. "-- but this is how I always wanted to conquer the world."

Bob is not really sure how to react to that last bit, so he confides in Jimmy.

"There are much less honorable means to conquer the world, Dr. Vernard. And considering the trust we put in you about the true nature of the Atlas Foundation, we would certainly be glad to assist in domination if it is through that method."

Unlike before, where the nonchalant nature of the conversation came from Bobs demeanor, this time the words are carefully chosen.

"But be assured that Master Woo will keeps tabs upon the money to ensure that it is properly channeled, for our records. And that our donations will become more subtle, since Tony Stark has expressed interest in them."

"Yes. I am aware that Agent Woo wishes the Foundation's interactions with Latveria to seem wholly illegitimate. Our records in these matters will be fully available to the Foundation to confirm that I keep my word."

There is a poke at the back of Bobs mind, a way to confirm something from Jimmy. Bob relaxed ever so slightly.

"We will trust your end of the bargain, but we would like to see that data in a month as verification. It's nothing against you doctor, just covering our leather boxes."

Bases, Bob, bases.

"That should do fine." He blinks at the phrase, but American idioms are so odd. "I understand."
