Comes With the Membership Card
Being an Avenger had its upsides and downsides. One upside? Swanky membership card with built-in communications hardware. On the other hand, you have things like Kang. Ultron. Loki. Also, the swanky membership card comes with the expectation that when the call goes out, you answer.

Spider-Man's been called in by the one and only Captain America for a briefing on a high priority mission that requires his particular talents and knowledge - which feels a little like Eddie Van Halen asking you to sit in on guitar. After passing through the requisite battery of scans and security checks, he makes his way inside.

"Yoo hoo, door-to-door arachnid delivery service, anyone home?"

Eddie agreed with Cap's logic. He imagined the Civil War and Osborn's time in power probably influenced Rogers' decision to create such a team.

"Not that much, Captain. I claimed to protect the innocent as Venom. Sometimes I did, others..." Eddie pulls an object from within his suit, a cross. He takes a moment to look at it before readdressing Captain America. "The offer was appreciated. What do you expect of me?"

"To do your part to help out the team. This won't be you working by yourself anymore," Steve says, "You might be doing some more shadow stuff than the Avengers usually do but you will more or less be an Avenger and I would want you to do that proud."

"An Avenger?" The idea sounds almost foreign: Him? An Avenger? Eddie rubbed the cross between his fingers. He had much to atone for. And there weren't many places betyter to do so than being an Avenger. "Alright, I'll do it. Let the Black Widow know that when the time comes, I'm in."

"Very good to hear," Steve says, "We'll contact you when the time comes. Thank you for coming in to talk."

The suit reforms around Brock's face as he replies.

"Thank you, Captain. I..I think it'll be good to be a part of something important."

With that statement, Eddie leaves the mansion.

END.
