The New Boss Is The Same As The Old Boss (Open to anyone at The Daily Bugle)
This was it. A fresh start.

Phil Urich hated what had become of his project out west, but it had to be done. He didn't want to walk away from the people who had become his friends, but Mickey, whatever her intentions, had been ready to sell them all out. He and Hollow, who was safe now, had worked out their own deal with Fujiwaka. Now he was free.

Of course, being free meant you had to work to support yourself again. True, the funds Rick Jones had hooked him up with gave him a little bit of a buffer, but the bulk of it had been left in the account for Excelsior. From what he could see online, the group was doing fine without him. For Phil Urich though, it was back to the grind. A new camera and a recorder at his side, he stepped into the barely contained fury that was the Daily Bugle offices. Uncle Ben had been proud of Phil for going back to college and earning his degrees (journalism and photography, thank you very much), and told him that if he ever was ready to give the Bugle another shot, to let him know.

So what if it was just a gopher job for his uncle for now? A job's a job.

Peter's hanging around the Bugle office today - though he doesn't depend on the paper for so much of his income anymore, it's hard to stop being a shutterbug when you've been at it as long as he has - so he's got an envelope of pictures being examined for potential purchase.

"Hey, Phil - long time, no see."

Phil cocks his head. "Uh... Peter Parker, right? The guy who gets all the Spider-Man shots." He extends a hand. "How's it going? Think the last time we spoke is when Uncle Ben was working on his book on Osborne."

He's honestly surprised that Parker remembers him.

"Yeah, that's me. The Webs guy."

He shakes Phil's hand with a smile.

"That sounds about right. Things have been .. well, interesting for me lately. A lot going on, trying my hand at different things. How about yourself?"

"Went back to school and got a couple degrees, tried to manage a social outreach program that... well, it's still going, I'm just not part of it. Tried some business dealings that ran their course, now I'm trying to just get back on my own feet. Uncle Ben said he'd help me out with another grunt job."

He shrugs. "You still snapping shots of Webhead?"

"Now and then, when I can. I'm actually looking at some opportunities to put my science education to work in a capacity beyond substitute teaching, though."

Peter gives a shrug of his own.

"I'm always going to love working the camera, I expect."

Phil smiles. "So you're, like, one of those really smart guys wearing surgical masks and hunched over circuit boards?

If you can ever pry yourself away from that, I could use an experienced voice for field photography. Portfolios for professors teach you the basic dynamics, but it doesn't really prep you for ducking rubble when the Rhino goes down 5th Ave or whatever."

"Yeah, no kidding. I know exactly what you mean, and I'd be happy to give you some pointers."

He fishes a scrap of paper out of his pocket, and jots down a phone number, offering it to Phil.

"Give me a call, we'll set something up."

Phil taps the paper to his forehead in a sort of salute, then moves to edge around Peter.

"Thanks for the help. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to hold an old man to his word." He shuffled off to find Ben.
