Nearly done and we still haven't started...(Open to X-Men)
Scott Summers looked down at the stacks of paperwork and information on his desk with a critical eye. Trade agreements, delivery manifests and personnel reports were among the top things that he needed to find time to deal with. He also had to schedule time to talk to everyone in the various areas of Utopia on the progress of rebuilding from Bastion's attack. His people, both the X-Men and mutants in general, have been through so much recently that it was wonder they hadn't broken yet. Of course, there were many that did.

The Church of Purity denounced Utopia at every turn, along with media pundits and politicians from both political parties. For every person that stood up in defense of mutantkind, it seemed that five more were hell-bent on seeing them truly become extinct.

Luckily, the X-Men have hope...and Hope.

Scott believes the girl will save mutantkind, given the proper time and training. He doesn't know how or when it will happen, despite the number of possible futures he's aware of. Nathan taught her well, and it was up to Scott and the X-Men to continue that training. But above all, it was on them to keep her safe.

Leading back to the paperwork on his desk. Hungry people didn't fight well, nor did people didn't have enouh water for showering and drinking. They needed more resources to sustain themselves and Scott wasn't sure where they'd come from, he'd secure them however he had to.

His people expected and deserved nothing less.

There was little doubt in his mind that any words he used today would be doubted. Actions always seemed to be what tipped the balance in belief for these old foes and friends of his.

He reached up to take his helmet off and let his face and white hair be seen. A rare action among the telepaths that were always a part of the X-men. A small gesture of trust.

"Remember you are to do nothing to them no matter what their actions." He didn't bother to glance at Exodus knowing he would not defy the order whether or not he understood it. "This will be a test."

They were in the open where they would be noticed immediately. Now it was just a matter of who came to demand answers of them first.

	Well, Exodus is rather uncomfortable (moreso when the helmet comes off), but he simply steels himself. "Yes, Lord." And his eyes, for once, are just blue. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Several minutes later, Cyclops walks out to the platform, stopping ten yards from Magneto and Exodus. He notes that Erik has removed his helmet and that Exodus' eyes are not glowing as they often do when his powers are in use.

From this, he deduces a few things:

1. If Magneto wanted them dead, he could have crushed them with the composition of Utopia and they'd have been nearly powerless to stop him.

2. Magneto has a world-class telepath in Exdous: If he wanted to sneak about or try anything underhanded, again, they'd have had little chance of stopping him.

3. They are waiting patiently, rather than demanding to know who is in charge.

Conclusion: They /appear/ to be here for a talk.

"What brings the two of you to Utopia?" Scott asks civilly, mindful of the number of people currently watching them.

	Paris stands, hands clasped, not really looking at Cyclops, just nodding very slightly to indicate the obvious: Magneto will do the talking. 	He had his helmet tucked under one arm but his posture was as proud and strong as always. A slight smile touched his face. "We are here to talk." That was aimed at Wolverine and his ever-ready temper. "And hopefully to join you." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Cyclops expression gave little away, but his mind is racing. Of all the things he thought Magneto might say, asking to join them wasn't on the list.

What did this mean?

"I'll admit, if you wanted to attack us, you could have done so with no trouble. Granted that Utopia used to be Asteroid M, I expected this meeting sooner or later." Cyclops says.

"Why would you be interested in joining us, Magneto? To say that you and the X-Men have worked at cross-purposes for years is an understatement.

I'm responsible for the safety of hundreds of people. You'll forgive me if I can't immediately take you at your word. But Utopia is open to /all/ mutants, so we will hear you out." Cyclops finishes.

	Paris rolled his eyes just slightly at what was to his mind a clumsy assessment by Cyclops that ignored the changes in situations. After all, who was running a separate island community of mutants now? But he held his tongue. Exodus had made his share of mistakes. Obviously this conversation was the beginning of his penance. He would never expect Cyclops to be less than suspicious of him. In fact up until now he would have expected him to attack him on sight on general principal. Obviously something has changed.

"We have never truly worked at cross purposes. All that either of us have wanted is safety for mutants but it has been our methods that have differed." He looked around slightly before turning his attention back to Cyclops fully.

"This is very much like things I have tried to accomplish in the past. It would be better that I throw my will behind what you are doing than to try to split our forces to both work on the same thing."

	Well, this certainly fell under unexpected events. Hank was, to put it bluntly, skeptical. Perhaps that was uncharitable of him, but when you've spent your formative years fighting a Master of Magnetism and his lackeys, it tended to do things to his ability to trust them. 	Darling, I've been in the Command Room setting up for this unexpected little meeting since our tentatively welcome guests touched foot to soil. And true to her word, Emma Frost was in the Command Room. She made it seem as friendly as possible with water and such though the steel in her expression assuredly left the tension clearly in mind.
