In a New York Minute....
They arrived in New York a few seconds after leaving Moscow thanks to Blink. Quinn could have done transporting duty, but there was nothing wrong with sharing the work. It actually felt good to be moving again. They had spent a few days in Moscow while Wanda cleared the way for her to leave for a short while.

While they were waiting Natasha had filled them in with more information about this world and how bad it was. As bad as it was, there were a few small spots of hope. Natasha, God she was hot and Quinn would have shagged her in a second if Patriot wasn't already doing that, had told them that someone connected to New York's Hellfire Club was helping and harboring mutants. The identity of the "Angel of New York" was unknown, but Quinn believed they could find him or her.

There was also mention of Project Bifrost that the Red Skull was working on. There were no details about it since Natasha hadn't been able to find much about it. She said she had nearly been killed trying to get what little information she did get. Magneto had under the advice of an adviser decided not to pursue that matter. Quinn would bet money it had something to do with Thor.

Thor. Quinn bet if Thor had come to this Earth like he had in Quinn's dimension and others from the sound of what his teammates said, maybe the world wouldn't be like this. Or at least as bad.

Quinn looked around. It was quite obvious that this wasn't the New York he knew and loved. "Well mates, what's on our agenda besides getting some cash and finding a place to crash?"

Quinn gave her his most charming smile. "My name's Quinn Braddock. We need to talk to you."

"I'm sorry," she replies, as if they hadn't just magically appeared in her office, "but you'll need to make an appointment. I'm very busy."

"Miss Van Dyne," Joe said. "I'm Joe Ledger. You really need to listen to us."

She regards them both for a moment, skeptically, then sits back in her chair.

"Go ahead," she says.

Quinn looked over at Joe. That was supposed to convince her? Quinn shook his head. "Janet, can I call you Janet? Look, this world has gone to hell in a hand basket. The worst of the bloody worst run it and things for the common people aren't good no matter where you go. Even things for those with powers and abilities aren't good. But there's hope. If a few certain individuals would stand up on behalf of those who can't do it for themselves, the world can change. It will change. We come from worlds where a group of individuals, yourself included, stood up for what was good and right and the world, while it isn't bloody paradise, is nothing like this one. We're trying to help turn this world around. We need your help to do it."

While he was talking, his hands were moving and his magic created images of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and even the X-Men. He showed her the battles they fought and the enemies they defeated.

Hey, he was trying to keep it simple.

"Listen," he said. "Heroism's calling. You need to pick up. You and the other guy, Hank Pym. This world needs heroes. Homegrown heroes."

"You're right. We're not supposed to be here. We're supposed to be in our own worlds with our own families and friends. But we're here. Now. Trying to help you, your world and others. You have it in you to be a hero, Janet Van Dyne. You, along with Hank Pym, and any of the others we know as the Avengers. Help us help your world."

At the name of Pym, her demeanor shifts instantly. "Get out," she tells them. Any trace of the bubblehead she was just pretending to be is gone. "Just... get out. I don't know anything about Doctor Pym. Leave before I call Kingpin's security...unless you want to call them yourself."

At the mention of Pym's death, Joe fought to keep the shock off his face.

"Look," Joe said with a sigh. "Ms. Van Dyne. We're super-heroes. Trying to do that heroic thing we do. Namely saving this world. And we need you to do it."

Quinn visibly slumped at hearing that Pym was dead. "Did Hank have an assistant or something? Someone who knew his work or where his lab is? He was Giant Man because of his work. If he can't be it, then someone else has to be. This world desperately needs heroes."

She blinks at him.

She finally steps directly up to Joe. Using her finger, she turns his chin so he's looking directly into her eyes.

"Superheroes?" she asks. "Really?"

There's no skepticism in her voice -- it's carefully neutral.

It was extremely risky, but Joe pulled the Prism from his pocket, holding it in the palm of his hand. He opened it just enough for it to be seen. "Really."

Quinn smiled and transformed his normal looking clothes into the uniform of Captain Britain. "My name's Quinn Braddock. Captain Britain. My father was Captain Britain. My aunt was a mutant and a member of the X-Men and Excalibur. I know those names mean nothing to you, but they have one thing in common. They all worked for the common good and the benefit of everyone."

He shook his head. "Look, we're just trying to find the people we know as Avengers, X-Men and other heroes. Scott Lang. Tony Stark. Hank Pym. Charles Xavier. Logan. Warren Worthington. Matt Murdock. Kurt Wagner. Kitty Pryde. Janet Van Dyne." He paused for a moment and let her absorb the names. "If you know how we can contact them, please, let us know."

"Let's roll."
