"That's just it," Patriot replies. "I understand why Magneto is the way he is. In our worlds, he was a domestic terrorist, doing what he felt he had to in order to save mutants. In my world... he failed, and most mutants are dead. Here, he's succeeded."
He comes forward and places a hand on Calvin's shoulder. "I know what he faced back in World War II. I was there, too, and I understand what would drive him to take the extreme actions our Magnetos took, even if I don't agree with the methods."
He looks seriously at Calvin. "But this is a world with villains and one selfless man who will take extreme actions to protect those he cares about... often at terrible cost. There's no one to protect those who he won't. And we need to help those people... the homo sapients, not just the homo superiors."
He removes his hand from Calvin's shoulder, and offers it to him. "Will you help us?"
