i realize i may not know most of you guys that well, but i have a huge favor to ask, and it would seriously mean the world if you could help me out in any way.
so, incase you didn't know, animals are my passion. more specifically, the lovely, but critically endangered, orangutans. i've decided i'm sick of just sitting behind a computer screen trying to raise awareness or act like i'm helping. i want to actually get out there and do something tangible. so i spoke with richard zimmerman, the head of orangutan outreach (redapes.org) and he recommended a wildlife rescue center in sulawesi, indonesia called tasikoki. (tasikoki.org) they specialize in saving animals from the illegal pet trade market. they not only have orangutans they also have 150 exotic birds, sun bears, leopards, gibbons, macaques, tarsiers, etc. so i contacted them about coming to stay and volunteer this summer, and after seeing my facebook cause, that i created almost 5 years ago, the guy at tasikoki said that if i could raise 750 more dollars, i could stay for free. so i've set up a birthday wish where my friends and family can help me do that. my birthday is july 10th, and this is all i'm asking for. i will actually be in indonesia on my birthday, or possibly still on a plane, so i had to set it up a little early (in case you're wondering why it says my birthday is june 22nd, facebook doesn't allow birthday wishes more than 30 days prior to your actual birthday. sneaky sneaky. ;)
so far i've spent $422.60 on shots and my passport. yes, i just added that up. and i still have two more blood tests to go, that will cost about $200. and then there's the plane tickets, those will cost about $3000. i've worked my ass off for the past year to make and keep that money. every penny of it, mine. so any little bit of help you could give, would be so appreciated.
