The Wake @ 07:44 pm

[info]littleladylord:

There was something bright and brittle and not quite sane in Lenore Cynthia Montgomery Lord's eyes right now.

"How can we not have found who did this, yet?" She asks quietly as she stands outside the room with the.. with...as she stands outside That Room, not targeting any of the people around her in particular with the question. "How can he still be walking around somewhere when she's not getting up again?"

Bump in the Night (Rex) @ 05:48 pm

[info]hawkgirl:

Rex was never around.  It was nice, generally, in the 'I get to do whatever I want' sense of things, but Nic had to admit it was weird and sad, too.  She never saw her brother anymore and for a little while she was considering some sort of epic bad behavior to get his attention.  Underage drinking was always a good option, after all, but something came up first.  The theft at the museum opened up a great opportunity, both to get some Hawk action with her brother and also to be badass.  So, after Wendi left and Nic was able to sort out her leads, Nic sent her brother a quick text.

Shadow Thief stole the Dimensionimeter.  Heading to Westfield Park to hunt him down.  Bring the Claw.

And then she was off, taking to the sky to go track down and kick some bad guy ass.

One Step Closer to the Softball Team (open) @ 08:41 pm

[info]3x2_9yz_4a:

The Tyler clan had come to the JSA Brownstone.  Wendi entered first, holding on very tightly to the hand of two year old Beth, followed by 17 year old Belle, 15 year old Danette, who was herself holding the hand of eleven year old Matt.

Ever since the time some of the surviving old Injustice Society members had tried to kidnap then then two year old Wendi and her just born sister Belle, it had become a rule that when another kid was being born, the other kids all went to the Brownstone.  Uncles Jay, Alan, and Ted, along with some of the Infinity Inc. generation and possibly Wally West as well, were providing some security at the Keystone City hospital where Jesse was giving birth.

"Okay guys," Wendi said, "you know the drill.  Best behavior, don't touch anything.  Belle, Danette, no flirting with Rex, Mikey, or anyone else.  Matt, I'm pretty sure Cat will throw you out the window if you try the catnip mouse thing again.  Am I understood?"

[info]atomic_legacy:
Current Mood: nervous

Jacob had been standing, contemplating the builiding in front of him for a good few minutes. He took a few more deeps breaths.

"You can do this, Rothstein. Suck it up."

With those words he walked up to the door, checking the address for the upteenth time. trying not to stare at his shoes. "Here goes nothing."

He knocks on the door.

Happy birthday, Nic! @ 09:20 pm

[info]greengenes:

Mickey was not going to forget Nic's birthday. She was her best friend, and had been for a very long time. So her birthday was on the most important days of the year to her.

She actually made the cake herself. Mickey wasn't a horrible cook, she just only did it on rare occasions. Friends birthdays were one of those. The cake was chocolate with strawberry frosting.

There was bacon. Lots and lots of bacon. Mickey had taken the liberty of making a couple of little things out of bacon, including a narwhal made entirely of bacon, chasing a tiny bacon boat.

There was a promise of a day of shopping and any hellraising that Nic wanted to do. That was mostly Mickey's idea, as she wanted a day where she could just have her best friend all to herself.

She had told the rest of the JSA that she was throwing a party the Brownstone (attendance was mandatory for them) and invited over Cindy.

Midnight Shadows @ 05:24 pm

[info]hawkgirl:

Nicolette couldn't sleep.  She'd gone to bed a little early having physically worn herself out flying the skies of some more rural areas of Louisiana to get used to the heft of a new mace, but physical tired wasn't drawing her into sleep.  She tossed and turned.  She tried to sleep with her wings out and with her wings in, upside down in the bed and right side up.  She'd even tried warm milk (and warm milk was something that she hated.)  Nothing was doing the trick so, finally, after hours of trying to doze off Nicolette simply gave up.  She just couldn't sleep and lying in bed wasn't going to do anything but make her grouchy.  Her only option was to sneak out and for once Nic was glad Rex was often distracted these days.  It made it so much easier to crack open a window, swing outside and then with a swoop, lift off into the air.

St. Roch was beautiful from high above with all the streets dotted with somewhat charming street lights.  They looked like tiny strings of diamonds or pearls in some of the older parts of the city.  They all lead somewhere, but Nic knew where she wanted to go.  The Museum was the closest thing she had to home outside of Egypt.  Since lots of the items in the Museum had come from Egypt it wasn't much of a stretch and even from her youngest years, the time before Rex's father had disappeared, Nicolette could remember sitting cross-legged in some of the galleries of the museum with her father and just feeling the ancientness of the artifacts.  They didn't exactly call to her in the literal sense, but she'd always felt drawn.  Just like tonight.

She entered the code on the security panel, slipped inside the building, and made her way through the darkened halls.  First it was the public galleries and after she finished those she rounded the corner, went through the big double oak doors to the private gallery and...stopped.  Directly in front of her was an empty case.  An empty case that wasn't supposed to be empty.  Nothing had been visibly broken, but the contents of the case hadn't been taken out properly.  The Diminsiometer was missing, it's holder knocked to the bottom of the case.

This wasn't right.  After a quick search of the facility, Nic grabbed her phone and made a surprising phone call: she called Wendi.

"How fast can you get to St. Roch's?"

She didn't even attempt pleasantries.

The Hour is Upon Us @ 10:31 pm

[info]3x2_9yz_4a:

Wendi had finally had the time to stop by the JSA brownstone.  Between recent events in the super-hero community, her own art school schedule, boyfriend time (Zach.  *blush*), a few small scale heroics (her hour of strength still worked, even if her speed didn't), and just life had gotten in the way of being there any timer sooner since they'd reconnected with Mickey.

She wondered if Rex was going to kick her off the team.  After how she'd freaked out with Mickey's death and everything, she certain deserved it.  What kind of hero ran in the face of danger like that?  Oh, sure, they all said they didn't blame her, but none of them had run...

Sometimes she wondered why she was even here.  Grandpa Rex and Grandpa Johnny, Grandma Libby, Mom, Dad, all of them had been super-heroes.  It was kind of just what the family did.  All of them, her, Belle, Danette, Matt, and Beth, and probably even Jonni (another girl, Matt was depressed and the kid wasn't even born yet), were all metahumans.  Powers were in the blood.  Were heroics too?

"Hey?" she called out as she headed inside.  "Anybody home?"

The Big Finale @ 09:18 pm

[info]dc_misc:

The city of Star City looked deserted. The citizens had either fled or had been turned into black lanterns. At the heart of the city was the entity known as Nekron. Nekron used the city as his base as his black lanterns ravaged the Earth.

The black lanterns increased their numbers each day and the power levels of the black lantern battery increased with each person that died.

Soon Nekron would have enough power to obliterate all life on this planet.

Paint It Black (JSA) @ 07:12 pm

[info]dc_misc:

It was a quiet night in New York City. People went about their business, rushing on the streets to get home, hailing taxis to get out of the brisk winter air. At the JSA Brownstone, all was well and good.

Then something happened. The sound of shattered glass could be heard shattering, and alarm klaxons blared. The team would soon find that Black Lanterns had arrived, and were closing in on the team of heroes.

What time is it? It's Date Time! @ 11:33 pm

[info]3x2_9yz_4a:

For about the three hundredth time, Wendi checked herself over in the mirror.  It was just supposed to be a casual date (a post-holiday follow-up to the coffee from after the Christmas party), though it had gotten pushed back a bit after everything that had gone on.

God.  Poor Mickey.   Wendi still couldn't believe she'd run off like that.  The pep talk from Jerry had helped some, but she'd been skittish about showing her face around the brownstone ever since.

She swallowed.  That wasn't what tonight was about.  This was about having a life.  About moving on and getting back to normal.  About being Wendi Tyler and not just Hourgirl.

She checked the clock.  Zack should be there to pick her up soon.

She checked the mirror again.   Did she have time to change?  No.  She was just going to have to go with it.

Running @ 11:06 pm

[info]3x2_9yz_4a:

Wendi hadn't stopped running since she'd fled the scene of Mickey's murder.  She had no destination in mind, she just needed to run, run as far away as she could.

Somewhere in that running, her hour ran out.  She skidded violently out of the Speed Force, retaining her friction aura just enough to protect her from the impact with the rough sand of the desert.  She pushed herself to her feet, coughing sand, and in the distance, saw pyramids.

God, what the heck was I doing, running like that?  I just... Mickey... I couldn't... that kind of thing doesn't... we're the good guys...

She was unsteady on her feet and sat down again.

"Yeah, messed that one up good, Wendi."

She turned her hourglass over.  She could probably call someone on the JSA comm to come get her, but she was probably better off just waiting until she could run again.

Not-So-Perfect Night @ 10:00 pm

[info]greengenes:

Mickey was being very cuddly and attentive when her and Steven got out of the movies. The new Tron had been pretty damn awesome...though there were parts where they weren't paying attention.

"So," she said to Steven as they walked out of the movie theater and into the snow-covered streets. "What's next? Dinner...or do we want to go back to the brownstone and work up an appetite?" She grinned at him.

It's every superheroine's duty.... (Rate The Hunk) @ 08:44 pm

[info]greengenes:

Mickey had roped off the living room in the JSA Brownstone for the afternoon. She had spent the entire morning getting the food ready and setting up. She had sent out invites to the JLA, Titans (both East and West Coast), Shadowpact, Outsiders, Birds of Prey, and of course, the JSA girls. She had also invited Cindy in case she wanted to come, and Angie, as she was basically a JSA brat herself. Mikey had built her a projection bot, and security bot that would alert her if any of the boys thought to try and see what the girls were up to.

Mickey finished setting up the projector. She had pictures of all the guys from the various teams that she had managed to get to her hands on. She made sure that there would be enough food and drinks for everyone, and waited for people to start arriving.

[info]botmaster:

Mikey got things set up for this year’s JSA Secret Santa. He put up a note so that he could get people together to explain this year’s rules to everyone together and get people set up with who they have this year.

Mikey set up a couple snack in the living room, set up his soda fountain bot, and had PATTON playing some holiday music in the background.

Schemes and Things @ 07:27 pm

[info]injus_unlimited:

Having been either bested in battle or otherwise coerced by the members of Injustice Unlimited into cooperating and then teleported away, the Justice Society members would find themselves behind a mystical barrier in an otherwise largely featureless dungeon.  Those who had been caught out of costume had been magically dressed with their uniform and all their equipment.

Also imprisoned, separate from the Society members, were the various hostages the villains had taken.  The Dugan family.  Abby Bronson.  Joan Garrick.  Molly Scott.  Sinon Tavoularis.  Belle and Danette Tyler.  Cynthia Lord.

The Wizard entered the room, looking rather pleased with himself.

"So," he said, with the air of one quite used to theatrics, "I suppose you're wondering why I've called you all here."

With Menace and Injustice For All @ 11:03 pm

[info]injus_unlimited:

Oswalrd Zar, son of the Wizard, had been quite busy these past few months, assembling the some of the most powerful and capable super-villains he could locate, all within his own centralized theme of tracking down those descended from various foes and friends of the Justice Society.  He was quite disturbed to learn that the Luthor brat had appropriated a name he had no right to.

He would be dealt with later.

But for now, cloaked in another name his father had used in his war against the forces of good, the Wizard had prepared his team well for dealing with the Justice Society.  Ferreting out secret identities and homes, making them all easy pray.  This was not about killing them, no, not yet, it was about bringing the world down around them, just as they had brought his own world down around him, by hounding his father so.

Today, the attacks began.

Atlas @ 07:02 pm

[info]dc_titansofmyth:

Atlas walked across the tarmac toward the planes with the LexAir logo on them. He reached the planes and put a fist through the hull of the first one. He put his fist through it again and did it a few times more until the plane was full of fist sized holes. The people inside screamed with the first punch and started scrambling to get off the plane.

Atlas @ 07:22 pm

[info]dc_titansofmyth:

Atlas, titan of myth and who once held the sky on his shoulders, stood outside the LexCorp manufacturing plant on the outskirts of New Orleans, LA. The Titans would not be beholden to any mortal. They were free and nothing would stop them. Zeus and his crew would be defeated and the Titans would once again rule as they were meant to.

Atlas moved toward the plant. Moments later there were fires and explosions rocked the plant.

Party time! @ 12:00 am

[info]catchmeifyoucan:

Since the calendar had turned to the month of September, Iris had been counting down the days until their birthday. She'd been planning the party since back in June. Jai normally had no problem letting her handle the party planning itself.

She had invited all of the Titans, including Pipi and Mitzi, of course. And Jon, Corinna, Traya, Cindy, Jerry, Keith, Cerdian, and Wendi, too. And Riley, because if she didn't invite him, he'd probably tag along with Dinah anyway. She also told Cait that she could bring her mom along, if she wanted to get out of the Tower, and that her parents probably wouldn't mind the company at all. Jai probably invited some people too, though the guest list was pretty much the same between the two of them.

Everything was all set up, and Iris placed the wrapped package that had Jai's gift on the table where the other gifts would go. Grinning from ear to ear, she waited for everyone to arrive.

Corn Maze and a Minotaur @ 07:57 pm

[info]dc_monsters:

Each year the The Denver Botanic Gardens created a corn maze. Each year the design changed and each year it is one of most attended corn mazes in the country.

It was natural that the minotaur from Grey Myth would show up in a maze and he made the Denver corn maze his home. Attendance quickly dropped off as people entered the maze and never came out. Authorities and the media appeared on the scene to see what was behind these disappearances.

Labor Day - JSA @ 07:10 pm

[info]dc_holiday:

The weather was absolutely perfect for holding a cookout.

Tables had been placed on the roof of headquarters and the large grill fired up to get nice and hot. Burgers, hot dogs, sausage, ribs, corn on the cob, pasta salad, salad and fruit salad were just some of the food available to eat. Soda, water, fruit juice and other beverages were on ice.

The JSA worked as a team to prepare the food. When they were ready, they carried it all outside and started their celebration.

It was a day of rest and relaxations for those who put their lives on the line for others.

Hanging Around @ 11:44 pm

[info]3x2_9yz_4a:

Wendi was hanging around the Brownstone today, not doing particularly much.  It had--bar what had gone on with Nic and the Thanagarian invasion--been a pretty good summer so far.   She wasn't eager for it to end, though.  Even with only one more year of high school left, she would need all of that time to work up the nerve to tell her parents that she had absolutely no interest in taking over or working in Quickstart or Tyler.    She had four other siblings.  They could pick up that slack.

She slipped a pad of paper and a pencil out of the bag she'd brought with her, and sat on one of the couches and began to sketch.

Fireworks and birthday cake (open) @ 09:44 pm

[info]greengenes:

Mickey loved the Fourth of July for two reasons- first was for the giant barbeque that the JSA had every year at the Brownstone. The second was because it was also her birthday.

It was a joint party all day long, and at the end of the day, just before the fireworks were set off, everyone gathered around the picnic table and sang Happy Birthday to Mickey. She blew out the candles on the cake that her Grandma Molly had made for her, which had a flag on it and "Happy Birthday Mickey!" in red and blue frosting.

Mickey bit into a piece of cake as the fireworks began to go off. She was seventeen. Another year older, and another perfect birthday. It was nice to spend the day with family and friends.

The Darkheart @ 11:42 pm

[info]in_a_snap:

(Timebendyed so anyone can be involved)

Jerry had heard that there was suppose to be an amazing meteor shower tonight and the best place to see it was in the Arches National Park in Utah. He had let dad knew he was going to spend the night there which his dad was totally fine with.

After teleporting in with some basic supplies he started looking for a good place to watch it from. Teleporting around the park he saw a mesa that looked like he could get a great view from. He snapped his fingers and appeared in a flash of green at the top of the mesa.

What he saw up there was something that he Jerry Carr had trouble believing. There was a organic looking machine with little robotic drones eating the rocks. And one charged right at him.

Quickly snapping both hands he teleported away and teleported a boulder right on top of the drone crushing it. Jerry let out a sigh of relief until he noticed that the drones were now eating the boulder and forming even more drones.

This was bad and Jerry knew he could not handle this by himself and felt that it would be smart to call in as much help as he could.

Teleporting back to his stuff away from the mesa he grabbed his cell phone and started calling all of the people he knew who were superheroes to get as much help as he could.

Father's Day @ 01:21 am

[info]dc_holiday:

What Makes a Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so,

He called it ... Dad

An Interesting Customer Today @ 10:18 pm

[info]wannabelantern:
Current Mood: bored

Scott was sitting at his work bench, incredibly BORED. No work today, nothing cool since last night.  The half-finished Beetle Baton sat there, taunting him, but he'd rather not mess with it til Dinah came over again.

"Arg! A supervillain, a mugging, a television to repair! My kingdom for a broken Swiss timepiece!" Scott yelled to the ceiling and moaned. He couldn't do Facebook, since Scooter was already addicted to FarmVille, and there was nothing good on TV at 2 in the afternoon. So he sat and waited and tinkered with a small silver box like device with a lightning bolt design of copper wires on it.

Rude Awakening (Open to JSA) @ 01:22 am

[info]handofnabu:

Some days everything goes wrong. First Mark had lost his wallet. Then he had split coffee on his boss. Followed by dripping ink on a new shirt. That wasn't the worse that could happen though.

His toaster oven caught on fire when he went home. Then after that was taken care of Dr Fate had to step in. There was trouble. The details are fuzzy even to Dr Fate himself. But he didn't win the fight,. He was bloody, sore, an innocent bystander had died, and instead of going back to Mark's apartment somehow he ended up in the JSA headquarters.

He had no idea how. He was going to leave when all of the sudden he lost any energy he had and just toppled over crashing into a table right before he slumped onto the floor.

Today things were going to change. He just didn't know it yet on account of passing out on the floor.

Brand Old Day (Open) @ 10:17 am

[info]wannabelantern:
Current Mood: excited

Scott West looked from the rooftop in his gold and silver bodysuit, his red hair moving slightly with the breeze, his goggles on tight. His little robotic drone Scooter hovered near him, with his two hover plates ready to deploy for emergency retreats for himself and Scott.

"Look at it Scooter. This city, Keystone City, 500 years before I will be a twinkle in Mom's eye. Before Mom will be a twinkle in anyone's eye. Traversing time and hypertime fragments to come here. And thus our quest begins!"

"Sir... why are you telling me this? I came here with you with the same chronoporter circuit. It's just our luck they both burnt out."

"Scooter, it's not my fault that I used the wrong isotope of yttrium for the circuit. And how would I know that it would react poorly with the valorium mesh of the suit?"

"Basic chemistry, sir?"

Scott made a sour face at the drone. "Cheeky robot. I'd turn down your sarcasmeter if it didn't make you so good at banter."

"Thank you sir. I will take that as a compliment." Scott smiled. He was happy he took Scooter along, give himself a friend. He was always good at making friends, even if he meant it literally. A mental impulse to his suit and the jet boots turn on, lifting him on compressed air alone.

"Well Scooter, let's patrol. The Flashes can't have all the fun, right?"

"Right, sir!" At that, the two fly over the rooftops, making sure that the city sees it's new metallic guardians. I mean, why wear a golden tech suit if no one will see it?

A world he never made @ 06:19 pm

[info]madeofgoesfast:

Run.
He wasn't even sure what he was running from, or to. It never mattered.
Run.
To run was to exist. To remember... something. Even if the images came in flashes and flickers.
RUN
He pushed, faster and faster, harder and harder, lightning crackling around him as he went. It didn't matter that his whole world was red-tinged shadows and ghosts of a life. To run was to live, to be.
RUN!
He pushed a little harder, moving at the wall that always turned him back. As he approached it, as always, he saw the most real images, every time he approached, he briefly felt something other than speed. He saw people, places, faces he knew that he remembered, somehow. But it always turned him back, even if it looked clear, like he should be able to pass right through it.
RUN!!
Not today. Faster, he had to go faster. He wasn't sure how he knew that, but he did. He gritted his teeth against the pain, and ran for the wall for all he was worth.

And then there was light, and gravity, and colors that weren't red and lightning. And there were walls.

All of it was startling. The light hurt his eyes, the sudden pull of gravity made his steps feel heavy and slow. A sudden awareness of a heartbeat threw off any rhythm he might have had. But despite it all, the wall was what hurt most of all. The one he hit at a high rate of speed after tripping over the edge of a tub, tearing through a shower curtain, which he's now wearing - only thing he's wearing, he half-realizes. The porcelain wall is full of cracks, and while he's as immune to heat as ever, he's smoking faintly, as he sits in someone's bathtub.

"Ow!"
