The Hardest Part is the waiting (Traya and Iris) @ 07:26 pm
dareyoutorun:
Jai waited in the lobby at the hospital after leaving a message on Dad's phone, then calling Traya and Irey. He'd changed out of his costume almost immediately after dropping his mother off and then entered the hospital as he son, asking to see his mother. She was in surgery now, so Jai paced the floor and waited for news, trying to understand what happened earlier. His powers simply shut down on him. What did that mean? It had never happened to him before. He hoped it was an isolated incident, because he couldn't afford to have it happen again.
He sits down and waits for the doctor to show up and, hopefully, bring some good news.

Making the Calls @ 07:41 pm
masterofmatter:
It has to be done. It has to. If this crap continues on, it won't be good for any of them. Not just for Jai, who has to be going through issues. Not just for Traya, who he had been avoiding ever since he confessed there may be more than just friendship. And not just for him. So he finds a place that is open but deserted. The Ivy University Architecture and Engineering Study Rooms, on the first floor. After holding his phone for several minutes, he begins to type out a message. I hate doing this over text, but this needs to get resolved. Meet me in the Ivy U Arch&Engin stufy rooms 1st floor. Then he scrolled down to the J's, casually noting the lack of names. In fact, Jai was the only one and he put it in on a whim. He didn't even know if it was a current number not. Then he clicked the box and scrolled down to the T's and clicked on Traya. And away the messages go. Michael hopes this won't be a big mistake. He really does.

The Seas of Chaos @ 12:49 pm
dc_atlantis:
Koryak stood near the new shoreline of Atlantis and looked out across the water. He was tired, they all were, but the rebuilding of Atlantis was coming along at a pace no one had expected. The Atlanteans were a resourceful people and rebuilding their homes and city wasn't just rebuilding the physical, it was rebuilding their sense of identity. Koryak had watched his father and Queen Mera work as hard as every other citizen when it came to doing things, if not harder. Koryak was right there beside them working to do as much as he could. There were a few missing faces, most notably Cait and Cerdian's. Koryak didn't blame them. He thought it was unfair that Arthur was trying to force them to marry. He was proud his sister stood up to their father and she left to do her own thing. Koryak turned back toward the city. The water behind him erupted into spray and figures emerged and came up on the island. Koryak turned to face the invaders. "Raise the alarm!" he yelled before he was attacked.

Trying to pick up the pieces @ 08:04 pm
tiny_tornado:
Traya had... not been in a good place, ever since the Blackest Night had ended and people had returned to life. She'd barely gotten used to the idea that Jai had been dead when he'd come back, first as a zombie, and then for real. She'd been prepared to pick the pieces of their relationship back up where they'd left them, only... Only it hadn't worked. All the hurtful things, the things he'd said, that he'd accused both her and Michael of... She didn't know how to wrap her mind around it. Michael was a friend, nothing more. A shoulder to cry on when she'd been at her worst, but not someone who could come close to taking Jai's place in her heart. And then, to find out that Michael thought of her as more than that, that the accusations weren't entirely baseless... She really didn't know how to deal with that. So she'd thrown herself into what work she could. She'd managed to pass her classes, in spite of all the chaos, probably owing more to a good memory and a superior to baseline intelligence to start with that anything else. Maybe she'd have her head together by the time the next school year started. The move back to NYC from Metropolis for the summer had taken a little time; it was good to get out of the place where she and Jai had become so close... Storms and tornadoes in the South had provided another distraction. Working with her father, they'd turned back some of the worst of the storms, and helped pick up after the ones they couldn't. It was good work, work she could throw herself into and focus solely on that. It was terrible that it took other people being in life or death situations for her to get her mind off her own problems. The occasional spell of monitor duty for the League, and fortunately few emergencies had helped, though Michael avoiding her was probably a good thing. She'd nearly called Jai dozens of times. But could never dial the last number. Couldn't do it. Her parents, needless to say, were worried about her. She needed to get out of the house. She needed excitement and fun and irresponsibility. She called Petra.

A Song of Wind and Fire @ 11:28 pm
tiny_tornado:
Traya had left the Secret Sanctuary not long after her break-up--or whatever it had been--with Jai. In the end, it didn't really matter. She knew things had changed, maybe beyond repair. With tears in her eyes, she probably wasn't in any condition to fly, but the rush of air felt good on her face. She'd been so happy when she'd discovered Jai was alive again. For a minute, it had felt like all the pain she'd gone through, between his death and that horrid zombie that had worn his face, was gone. She should have known it wouldn't be that easy, that things couldn't just go back to normal like nothing had happened, no matter how much she'd wanted them to. All she could think of was her mother's words when she'd first started dating, saying that Jai was too young for her, didn't know what he wanted. She was sure that wasn't true. She remembered just as well how Jai's own parents had been dubious about their relationship. Dammit all. She dropped down in Happy Harbor. Her stomach was growling and she realized she hadn't had anything to eat for lunch today. One more thing. Great.

I've had some time to think...(Open to YJLA) @ 10:14 pm
dareyoutorun:
One week after his resurrection, Jai West arrived at the YJLA HQ, looking for someone he could speak to. He hoped Jon was here; it would be easier for him to talk to Jon about this, or maybe even Corrina. He had to inform someone, though, so that they could start looking for a replacement if necessary. He passed the meeting room, with meeting table reserved for the core members of the League. Jai walked into the room, looking down at everyone's familiar symbols carved into the table. He'd heard that the JSA have a table just like this at the Brownstone, but he'd never seen it. Anyone walking by would find him there.

The sun was just setting in the western sky as night settled in over Metropolis. Along with night came another form of darkness, one more sinister and evil. The black lanterns move through the city looking for victims to rip hearts out of and add to their numbers.

Making Deputies @ 11:52 am
green_lantern:
The group of lanterns were gathered around in a circle not far from the North Pole. Larfleeze was practically bouncing that they were so close to the Fat Man's workshop and Dex swore he would punch the orange lantern just to make him stand still for longer than two seconds. They had business to attend to first and then they could talk to the Fat Man about getting Larfleeze the promised presents. They were going to create two rings of each color to help in the fight against the Black Lanterns. They would make more, but as it was the rings were only at half power. They would have to make do with what they had until they could find a way to get to Oa and see why the rings were depowered. Dex looked around the circle. Each color had two more rings, red had three, added to the ranks. It was time to send them out. He nodded and the newly created rings were thrown up into the air. They immediately took off and started seeking out wearers.

Black Winds @ 02:30 pm
tiny_tornado:
With the attack on the Young Justice League itself and reports of attacks coming in from the homes of various other teams and heroes, the need to make certain that their families were safe had never been greater. While Traya tried to force herself to believe that there was little to worry about--her parents were both alive, as was T.O. Morrow--she couldn't help but feel uneasy. She supposed the Black Lantern version of Jai could still be out there. Knew it was, really, if what the Lanterns had said was right. But her daddy alone could have kicked that monster's butt. If she was there too, then there would be no problem at all. She slowed down for a moment. She was certain she'd heard something in the wind. A voice, calling her name. Traya gathered the winds around her, carrying any near-by sounds. She was over New York City; there were plenty sounds of the city about her, lots of little voices too. Most of it was an incomprehensible babble. There. There it was again. And it had said more this time too, but in a language she didn't understand. She thought it sounded Arabic or maybe... A couple of the girls in the Biaylan Student Association had been teaching her a few simple phrases in Biaylan, but she wasn't even remotely close to fluent. She dropped out of the sky and landed on a rooftop. Traya concentrated on the winds again, drawing more and more sounds to her on the air. She could swear... A second voice this time, but in that same language as the first... "Who's there?" she demanded. "What's going on?!"

Night Of The Living Dead (YJLA) @ 12:39 pm
dc_misc:
At the Hall of Justice, where the YJLA was currently taking refuge, everything seemed calm and quiet. In spite of the recent Black Lantern attacks, the team seemed to be holding up well, and many of the members were currently resting and recovering from helping out with various relief efforts. Yes, all seemed well and good for the Young Justice League... Outside, a dark cloud grew over the Hall of Justice...and a horde Black Lanterns closed in on the Young Justice League.

Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice... @ 03:23 pm
tiny_tornado:
Years ago, the Hall of Justice had been the Earthbound headquarters of the Justice League, the compliment to an orbiting satellite portion. It had eventually been discontinued as a headquarters, but the museum portion remained and much of the equipment was still present, usable as a back-up location. Located in Washington DC, where the All-Star Squadron had once had their own headquarters, it remained a popular tourist destination. Traya had spent a lot of time here, once upon a time, when her father had been damaged and stored in the computer system. It was to here that she and Michael had come, to get the warning out to everyone else. The headquarters portion was dusty, but Traya whisked it all away with a couple of well placed gusts and got the computer systems running. "This is Whirlwind of the Young Justice League, to anyone reachable by this message. Firestorm and I have encountered a zombie version of Kid Flash. We defeated him, but we don't... we don't know if there are more of them... YJLA HQ is wrecked. We are requesting anyone available converge upon the Hall of Justice... repeat..."

Memories Come Back to Haunt You @ 09:40 pm
tiny_tornado:
Traya was on monitor duty in the YJLA HQ, her helmet resting on the control console while she paid attention to the various broadcasts. So much death and destruction in the world lately. So many heroes who had died. Superman. The Blue Beetle. Metamorpho. Cait. Cerdian. Jai. It just seemed like the world was heading to hell in a hand basket. The darkness encroaching in. But she couldn't believe that. Couldn't. They were the heroes. They always won. Good would always triumph over evil, so long as they held onto hope. Just like her dad always told her. No matter what happened, you kept right on trying until you got it right. She leaned back and sighed. No major emergencies that required responding to since Gotham. Even with whatever was going on in Atlantis.

Battle At The End of Time @ 03:42 pm
dc_misc:
The YJLA and the Avengers had a busy week. They had been searching the globe for signs of Kang all week, but no trace of the time-traveling conqueror could be found. The people who attacked the YJLA seemed to have disappeared into thin air as well. It had been a quiet week for both teams. Little did they know it was the calm before the storm. The two teams met at the YJLA headquarters for a brief meeting to go over the results of their searches and to lay plans for the upcoming days. Both teams were gathered in the conference room when there was a bright flash and they were all transported to a spot some distance away from Kang's Fortress at the End of Time. It was time to fight what should be the final battle in this adventure.

It was empty and she took a seat in a chair that allowed her a good view of the door.

Mickey had roped off the living room in the JSA Brownstone for the afternoon. She had spent the entire morning getting the food ready and setting up. She had sent out invites to the JLA, Titans (both East and West Coast), Shadowpact, Outsiders, Birds of Prey, and of course, the JSA girls. She had also invited Cindy in case she wanted to come, and Angie, as she was basically a JSA brat herself. Mikey had built her a projection bot, and security bot that would alert her if any of the boys thought to try and see what the girls were up to. Mickey finished setting up the projector. She had pictures of all the guys from the various teams that she had managed to get to her hands on. She made sure that there would be enough food and drinks for everyone, and waited for people to start arriving.

Party time! @ 12:00 am
catchmeifyoucan:
Since the calendar had turned to the month of September, Iris had been counting down the days until their birthday. She'd been planning the party since back in June. Jai normally had no problem letting her handle the party planning itself. She had invited all of the Titans, including Pipi and Mitzi, of course. And Jon, Corinna, Traya, Cindy, Jerry, Keith, Cerdian, and Wendi, too. And Riley, because if she didn't invite him, he'd probably tag along with Dinah anyway. She also told Cait that she could bring her mom along, if she wanted to get out of the Tower, and that her parents probably wouldn't mind the company at all. Jai probably invited some people too, though the guest list was pretty much the same between the two of them. Everything was all set up, and Iris placed the wrapped package that had Jai's gift on the table where the other gifts would go. Grinning from ear to ear, she waited for everyone to arrive.

Another Summer Gone @ 07:58 pm
dareyoutorun:
Jai was somewhat depressed at the idea of going back to school next week, though he would be glad to see his friends again. He'd also signed up to tutor mat this year and he'd find out who his "student" would be not long into the school year. No sports, of course, because of his powers. He also had to make sure Irey didn't find her present until their birthday. Thinking about all of these things kept his mind off his largest worry, the one that had eaten away at him all summer long: Traya was going to college, with college classes, college parties, and college activities. Worst of all, there would be college guys. It wouldn't be hard for him to see her when he wanted, but they'd both agreed to enjoy the summer (which they had, by God) and see where things went from there. What if she'd changed her mind about him? What if she wanted to explore college and everything it had to offer. Finally, the wondering got too intense and Jai had to get things out in the open. He whipped out his phone and fired of a text. Hey, u free?

The band specialized in swing covers of hard rock songs, but could play just about anything. There was a dance floor. All her friends from school were there, dressed to the eights. Of course, all Cindy's friends from school didn't really fill up the little reception hall. And she certainly didn't have a big family. But that was okay, more room for her soon-to-be-colleagues fellow super-brats. And so she scurried, from arrival to arrival, for cheerful welcomes.

This had all been a complete waste of his time. Why his dad sent him to talk to the eccentric billionaire Bruce Wayne was beyond him. His dad had said to trust him so he had told him the whole thing about a group of demons appearing out of nowhere and attacking him. He had left out some of the more graphic details about how he had dealt with the problem a since he didn’t want to give the old guy a heart attack. Some people just don’t age as well as his dad. When Mr. Wayne said there was nothing he could do to help. He had expected that but for the life of him he could not figure out why his dad had sent him there. He left the manor quite annoyed and was going to walk till he had a chance to cool off. Sometime his dad could be really cryptic and unhelpful.

Cindy Lord's powers don't work in print, so she feels there can be no confusion about what the fancy etiquette signifies beyond, in Cindy's mind, 'important'. Among the rather prissy-looking envelopes sent out are those addressed to Miss Traya Smith, Miss Petra Beatriz Gardener, Mr. Jonathan Kent, Her Royal Highness Caitria Curry, Mr. Jai Allen West, Miss Iris Lillian West, Miss Dinah Michelle Kord, Mr. Riley Edward Carter, But she makes sure the little notes on the invitations include 'Dress flexible'. Jerry had heard that there was suppose to be an amazing meteor shower tonight and the best place to see it was in the Arches National Park in Utah. He had let dad knew he was going to spend the night there which his dad was totally fine with. After teleporting in with some basic supplies he started looking for a good place to watch it from. Teleporting around the park he saw a mesa that looked like he could get a great view from. He snapped his fingers and appeared in a flash of green at the top of the mesa. What he saw up there was something that he Jerry Carr had trouble believing. There was a organic looking machine with little robotic drones eating the rocks. And one charged right at him. Quickly snapping both hands he teleported away and teleported a boulder right on top of the drone crushing it. Jerry let out a sigh of relief until he noticed that the drones were now eating the boulder and forming even more drones. This was bad and Jerry knew he could not handle this by himself and felt that it would be smart to call in as much help as he could. Teleporting back to his stuff away from the mesa he grabbed his cell phone and started calling all of the people he knew who were superheroes to get as much help as he could.

Coming out of said area, back in costume is Lifeforce. He'd been helping rescue survivors from a collapsed building earlier in the day and ended up a bit dirty and tired. And since the HQ was closer than trying to trek all the way back to Coast City on his own, Lifeforce stopped by for a quick shower and rest. Sure, he feels a bit odd about being in the base alone...both because the place is pretty much completely new to him and because he isn't quite completely over the 'do they trust me even though I'm a supervillain's kid?!' thing. But for right now, the healer's just singing and even pulling a few dance moves as he heads for a place to sit down in the meetig area for a bit. "Don't worry, you're safe in my arms! His face is healed from the attack he suffered from an alien gorilla earlier this week. The rest of the team is okay, although it was strange to be kidnapped as part of a plot to bring Henry and Katima together (don't even get him started on that). He hopes that Henry and Katima have something real, but he's sure that's not going to tie itself up nice and pretty for everyone involved. He's wearing some of the new clothes that Iris helped him pick out: black shirt, blue jeans and black boots as he waits for her to arrive at the mall. Jai's even decided to come to Traya's town to keep nosy little sisters (re: Iris) from tagging along for updates. Granted, she already had plenty of that at home, what with her dad and all, but there were also papers published by Robert Crane and Will Magnus and Niles Caulder that she hadn't read before. A cool paper topic to write about and a date with Jai coming up. Life was pretty dang good.

It's Friday Night: Do You Know Where Your Superhero Kids Are? @ 08:07 pm
lantern_kid:
Henry grins as he makes certain the bowls of chips are filled. Sodas are available. He's got a hidden stash of beers in his room, but... it's an underage superhero party. They're not visible to most. Those who want one will know to ask him. People will be arriving soon. He's got tunes, he's got snacks and drinks, he's got games set up to go, and he's got superhero kids coming from all over. While the primary purpose was to make certain the YJLA got a chance to meet Avalon and Josh, the Titans and others have all been invited, too. This party will rock.

All-out War at Warriors @ 11:12 pm

Unlike most of New York, Petra loved her job. It wasn't for getting special treatment or anything for being the big boss' daughter, she'd put a stop to that the first time she got a hint of it. It wasn't the tips, although she'd long since established the perfect margin for cleavage, skirt-length, and makeup to maximize them. It was being part of the family business. Daddy had turned one bar into a mounting international franchise of upscale but still family accessible bar-and-restaurants. Interplanetary, actually, considering there was one on Oa as well. Her job was her pride and joy, waitress or not. That and her collection of boots anyway. And boy was that about to be tested. It turns a few heads at first as some brightly dressed individuals enter the place, but it's not so uncommon. Plenty of regulars come in costumes of their favorite heroes and villains, or make their own togs. It's when the occasional use of tech or metahuman powers starts getting noticed that some people start asking for their checks. Soon, the place is emptying out in a slow but noticeable flow of customers. Then one of the other waitresses, and a waiter as well, both of them rather fetching, get pulled in to sit with them at the large booth they're taking up like a mentally imbalanced football team (bit repetitive there, but still). Petra scowls, cracks her neck, and strolls over, pulling Tara and Byron out and shooing them off. The air starts to get colder around her. "Alright guys, your drinks so far are on the house, if you clear out right now. No need for this to get uglier than you sitting down already made it."

Big Girls Now @ 09:27 pm

"So... can we do this again sometime?" The young man asked Petra as he was stepping out of her apartment. "Oh sweetie..." She pinched one of his cheeks, holding a towel with her other hand. "You barely did it this time. Take care." She blows a kiss and shuts the door, sashaying her way back to the phone as she can see the slack-jawed shock in her mind. Daddy had slipped her the number of a friend's kid who was living in the city as well, and she owed her a get-together. Good to make more friends 'in the biz' as it were. She dialed up Traya Smith.

Later that night @ 07:37 pm
deadlyhemlock:
The light of the fire is the only illumination in an otherwise pitch black canopied forest. The sky above is so filled with stars as to appear ready to burst; as if hanging just one more light in the sky would make the whole thing come crashing down. All the familiar aural ambiance is gone, with the noise of cars and plane engines replaced by the much more agreeable hooting of the owl and the crackle of the fire. An unfamiliar pair of eyes shifts its gaze between the campers, as an invisible and distant watcher takes a moment to observe unseen...

Weekend Away @ 05:18 pm

Roy's checked the brakes, and the tires, and the spare tire on the vehicle. He made sure all the packs had basic medical kits, that the tents were really good tents, and the flashlights were all new, with batteries to spare. He's made Lian go over the lists of essentials twice, and he's lost count of how many times he's lectured her about being in charge, and the responsibility that goes with it. Because it's making him feel like Ollie, he'll be done now. Really. There's no more he could possibly check with her. "You have the numbers to all the local ranger stations and the hospital, right?"
Wake-Up Call @ 03:26 pm
lantern_kid:
Henry sits in a corner of the apartment, focusing with his father's ring. He wants to find his father. He wants to find his father. He refuses to let his desire he's had his whole life, this desire for a green ring, interfere any further. He needs to find his father. He has to. The ring glows, casting the room in soft green light, but Henry makes certain it won't interrupt any of his sleeping companions. He wants to find his father. He wants to find his father. He wants to... keep this ring. Damn it. He lets out a tired sigh.

Regrouping (bendytimed back to right after the others showed up) @ 12:58 am
young_swimmer:
The small apartment was big enough for Cait and Ty to move about without bumping elbows too much, but with this many people it seemed smaller than normal. Wounds were tended to as best as possible and people found somewhat soft spots to relax. Cait ordered pizzas to be delivered, using up a good portion of her rainy day funds. This definitely qualified as a rainy day. She could always work a little more at the aquarium. Work. She had to remember to call work. She wouldn't be going in tomorrow and she'd tell them an family emergency had come up. Which it had. Cerdian was family. He had been like another brother to her when they were young. He was closer to her own age than her own brother. "So what are you all going to do now?" she asked the assembled crew. Yes, she asked what they were going to do. She wasn't a part of this and didn't want to be a part. Cait wasn't a hero.
