The moment he determined he was well enough to attempt a short patrol without seriously hurting himself he took his chance to sneak out. Being stuck in that manor for so long was just too much. Besides, aside from making sure he didn't land badly on his left leg and didn't do too many back flips and swings through the skyline which (he found the hard way) was still too much for the wound just below his rib, he was doing pretty well. He'd even been good and stuck to using the motorbike for most of the patrol.
But as his luck would have it he ran across a group on their way to try and rob a bank. Of course, had these idiots been anything but the basest of amateurs it might have been interesting, but as it was he'd ended up ditching the bike to follow them and then camping out and watching from a nearby roof as they tried to get in. For over an hour. It should not have taken anywhere near that long to get past the whole thing let alone the first level of security. The feeling of freedom from confinement was the only thing that let him put up with it. He was sorely tempted to break in and get through the security for them. Just so he could have something to charge them with already. This was such a waste of his time.
When they finally got through (about time, he thinks), he decided to give them a few minutes head start before he broke in too. Through a different way. Just to make this interesting.
Finally he'd get to do some crimefighting. Although that these amateurs even considered themselves worthy of calling themselves thieves and attempting to break into this sort of bank (it was clear someone smarter had given them the appropriate instructions and equipment for this job) irked him.
They'd learn the hard way about amateurish stealing in Gotham.
