In your turff messing with the thugs
Jane wasn't going to explain why she was here right now. She was dancing on the edge of everything on this latest case. It had taken her all over and now she was in a city she didn't want to be in. The young woman hated the way Gotham felt but the clues had led her this way.

So she hit the pavement. She was going to find this kid if it killed her. Of course that was when it went south. She was ducking and weaving around fists and feet. She gets thrown into a wall and her eyes grow wide for a moment and she ducks.

Ah the virtues of being short. She cleans up the group and stands over the leader with a grin.

"You shouldn't have done that. Really. Now will you tell me what you know?"

He was going to tell her exactly what she knew.

And.. that was Nightwing's cue. Silent as a ghost, he lept into the air, weightless for a moment before his body coiled and flipped, somersaulting as he fell from the sky. It felt good to fly the skies of Gotham again, though to be honest this was Nightwing's first night out on the beat. Hence the whole spying and listening part of his evening.

Landing a bit behind Jane, as to disguise the noise of his boots hitting the pavement. Rolling up to his full height, Nighwing stood an (un)impressive 5'`0" tall. In each hand, he held a silver juggling baton. Those ruffians that were around him when he landed recoiled in horror, knowing what the symbol on his mask vaguely meant. Not just anyone wore a variation of the Batman's symbol - unless they were one of those stupid Bat-brats.

Flexing his hands around the batons, Nightwing started to step towards Jane, coming up behind her. It seemed the little woman, though quite skilled in hand to hand combat, needed a little bit of intimidation assistance. And there was nothing quite so intimidating to a Gotham criminal as the bat-frown. And Nightwing's bat-frown was just about as terrifying as the original Batman's.

to add more power to his frown, Nightwing did his best to loom over the small woman, making sure to make eye contact with the goon, through the opaque lenses of his mask. If the guy needed any more prodding, he went so far as to cross his arms across his chest, his frown deepening to a full on bat-scowl.

She hears some gaps and groans behind her. She wasn't going to pay attention to them. Her gaze was locked on the gang leader. He gulped, not because Jane was scary enough to scare him, but because there was a freaking Bat-brat staring him down.

"Could 'ya discribe him," he gulps.

Jane smiles enough to light up their corner of the ally way. "I can do ya one better. See why couldn't you have been this nice earlier?"

She pulls out a picture and shows it to him. The kid looks like he has hit the goth scene recently. "His name is Jacob Cobb. Has a weird interest in.... creepy magic stuff. He's wearing a funny looking thing around his neck?"

She mimes something that's probably heavy looking and misshapen. That's when the gang leader perks up. "I know that kid! Real crazy actin' like he's on the fast track to the Asylum. In fact he was recruiting."

Jane's pallor changes. Oh hell. "Order of Dagon?.... Thanks. Stay away from the docks tonight, gentlemen. Stay as far away from Arkham as you can."

She shoves the pucture back and turns. Then because there's someone right there she doesn't even think about it and punches at Nightwing.

Not surprisingly, the little lady packed a lot of punch. The whole exchange she had with the goon at her feet had been quite interesting. The whole mention of Arkham though caused even Nightwing to visibly wince. No one in their right mind wanted to go there.

The first of her punches landed against a hard stomach, and the man made a low oofing sound before he stepped back, blocking several strikes. Stacy was good - very good - and it was surprising for Nightwing to have to work so hard to keep the tiny thing off of him. She had more fire than some men twice her size, and Nightwing eventually found himself leaping back into a series backwards hand springs, just to put space between them.

"Hey now! We're on the same team - I think." he said, his voice a rather husky tenor. "At least I hope we are. If muggers are getting to be as cute as you are, then I may be in trouble."

She stills when he speaks up. The gang members are finally getting up. They don't know if they should get in on the action or get the heck out. Jane's fists are raised still in a fighting pose and she gives him a long stare.

"Yeah, right," she barks. Then she strikes with a leg sweep one last time. She doesn't trust anyone tonight. Not when she knows how close the world is to breaking into madness.

Then she makes a break for it. Nightwing is going to have to catch the very slightly taller girl if he wants any answers. She's not giving them out willingly.

The girl was fast, but Nightwing was faster. From seemingly out of no where, he pulled a gas-powered jump-line and fired it high over head. Half a breath later it took hold, and he gave the line a tug to trigger it's recoiling mechanism. All the while, he used the positioning of the line to swing towards where it was attached to the building.

This all allowed Nightwing to build up enough momentum that he (hopefully) swung over Stacy's head and executed one of his trademark flips before landing in front of the girl on the pavement far enough ahead of her trajectory that he hopefully ended her egress.

"Arkham Asylum isn't a nice place." he said, stating the obvious. With a bit of a cock to what might be a brow, he offered a bit of a smirk that looked far too right on his features. "Why would Jacob want to go there?"

She stops and curses her luck. Jane knows she won't get ahead of whoever this is. She doesn't have time to waste either.

But she should play this smart.

"He's meeting several someones there. There's this cult that's working towards a larger goal. Waking up something they worship like a god that will end the world if it wakes up. It feeds off of strong baser emotions. What better place than Arkham? They're going to use some magic and other worldly crap to start a riot. I was....Going to see if I could stop it," Jane says while looking for an opening. "I know this is hard to believe but with the weird crap going on lately..."

She trails off. She has other things to do.

Now they were getting somewhere!

Nightwing frowned as the woman's words fell across his ears. This wasn't just some mugging or equally mundane issue. In some ways, Nightwing had hoped that Stacy was going to tell him that Jacob was just her run away brother, or that he was some kid who ran into some emotional trouble. Not this.

Of course, considering that Nightwing used to make the horizontal mambo with a crazy-hot alien and spent a portion of his life on another planet.. maybe what Stacy was saying didn't seem all that terribly far fetched. In fact, all her words did were deepen his expression from a smirk to that same heavy bat-scowl he had given the thug. None of this was a good sign.

"How long do we have?" he then asked, his hands tightening into fists. Already, Nightwing's brain was racing. If he had enough time, he could contact Batman and see what could be done. Batman needed to know about this - if he didn't already. And their long standing silent feud could wait, especially when the world was hanging in the balance.

She checks her watch. Then pulls out an old looking journal and flips through it staring at it silently before it gets pushed into the safety of her coat. She shouldn't just carry it around but she needs it for reference.

"We have two hours. Maybe less," she says with a shake of her head. They have just enough time for Nightwing to get help if he thinks he can.

"I'm not going to be much help getting people there to stop it I don't run around in spandex," Jane says with a shrug. "But I'm going to try and slow things down. Stop the kind from starting things if I can... If I can't we need to contain it."

The man in black Nomex and Kelvar just nodded his head with his expression set. He understood that time was of the essence, and they were only wasting time staring at one another.

"You do that, I'm going to call out the cavalry." he then stated. "If things get too hairy, pull back. Don't go into Arkham if you can help it."

And then lifted an arm and fired off another jumpline, this time above him. Nightwing needed to get to the roofs and make a call. He wasn't exactly looking forward to that call.. but it was necessary.

Landing with three points touching the stone building top, and pressed a finger to a spot on his mask, opening up communications on a channel he thought he would never use again.

"B. This is D." he said. "I need Batman. Arkham's going to be a hot bed tonight and I can't handle it alone. I need your help."
