Curiosity killed the cat and it drew in a bat.

Maria had been curious about her brother, half-brother, since Bruce had mentioned that she had one. Maria had tried to resist the lure of curiosity, but it had eventually grabbed her enough that she wanted to meet him. She talked to Bruce and he had been nice enough to call Max to set up a meeting and make travel arrangements.

The flight was a commercial flight, first class though, to Star City. Maria had checked into her hotel and then taken a cab to the cafe where the meeting was supposed to take place.

If she had to admit it, she was nervous. She didn't know how Max was going to take meeting new family from another dimension. Though maybe she could take the agreement to meet as a positive sign. It wasn't like she wanted to invade and take over or destroy his relationship with Helena. Maria was still unsure about meeting Helena, but she was curious about Max. At least she would get the chance to meet him. Then she would see where things went from there.

Maria tapped the table with an index finger out of nervousness and waited.

His Mom had made mention of how Bruce had told her about Maria. He had been curious about what she was like but not every day you find out about a half sibling from another dimension. But then curiosity was practically a family trait.

He hadn’t told his parents about the meeting. His Dad would have had a list of questions about her world a couple miles long and he couldn’t be certain that his mom wouldn’t have made a surprise visit to meet her. While Maria hadn’t said so he got the distinct impression that she wasn’t ready to meet her yet.

Max arrived at the café not long after Maria did. Being as tall as he was she probably saw him coming. He made his way over to her table.

“Hello I’m Max,” He said to her before moving to take his seat.

“Sorry to hear about that,” Max said. He wasn’t going to pry about that more he assumed that old wound had probably been picked at enough of late. If his mom heard about this she probably would seek her out with no one having the power to stop her.

Still it was weird to hear about his mom together with Mr. Grayson. He knew they had some history together but he had always been more interested in her than his mom was with him. But then again most people seemed confused that his parents work so well together at least until they actually saw them together.
