"Not a baby member of your family, no, I'm just deducing adorability there because of the obvious factors. I've seen a baby kestrel, though, at the wildlife center. It was fluffy and cute and chowing down on raw mouse."

For a second Nic couldn't get that image out of her head.

"We're weird. We're like human babies, but with lumpy backs until our wings develop and sprout. Mine sprouted unevenly. I had a partial left wing by the time I was six months old and a nub for a right."
