The guards that are quickest to respond run right into the Vertigo wave and become disoriented, falling to floor and clutching at their skulls.
Captain Atom isn't injured by Zoe's shots, but they do slow his progress, allowing her to keep some distance between the two of them. Atom doesn't dare fly in this enclosed space, much less use any of his more damaging abilities as long as there is a chance of the guards being hit.
