Two days after a shooting in the Triangle, Angela Holt drives her Mercedes Benz to the small office in the gang-infested part of Star City. This place looks like a bigger dump than it did the last four times she's come here, but in order to get what she needed, she had to deal with Michelle Torres. Angela likes this idea as much as she likes the idea of a root canal, but if they're going to do this job, they're going to need someone who knows the lay of the land.

The other three operatives for this little shindig would get pulled together as quickly as she could manage, but starting with Floyd Lawton's kid was the easiest way to go. Only one of the remaining three would be a tough sell, if any. There wasn't a reason to think Merlyn would say no.

Getting out of the car, Angie straightens out her black pantsuit and runs a hand through her hair. She looked too much like her mother some days, minus the weight. Tucking her gun into the holster at the small of her back, Angie puts on her black coat and starts to close the car door, then stops.

"Wait, let's not be stupid." she says to herself, reaching into the glove compartment and with drawing the small sphere with an engraved "T" on the face. She sets the T-Sphere's parameters and lets it go. The little thing vanishes and Angie suddenly feels about thirty times safer than she did with just the gun. She closes the car door and then heads into the apartment building.

Approaching the door to the apartment, Angie knocks, readying the little document that substantiates her cover story.

Damn right that was a rookie mistake. Zoe had spent countless hours helping her mother study for law school when she was a kid and it wasn't safe for Michelle to get to her study group. She wouldn't claim to be law savvy but she knew what she knew, and what she didn't she asked Mom.

Her eyes narrowed at the implied insult, as if a barely eighteen year old girl had any control over a slumlord. She did the best she could to keep the building safe for her mother and the kids who lived here.

Stung, she replied in kind. "If you're looking for Andre, he's two floors up. He's got higher standards for his girls, but after a couple of months it won't matter. The server act won't work on him either but it'll get his attention long enough to give you an audition."

Angie ignores the insult; she's heard better.

"No, Zoe. I'm here for you. I'm here to give you an opportunity to do something that's only been done once in Star City's history.

I can help you clean up the Triangle and make it so that the dope-pushers stay gone. I can give you the resources necessary to put together an operation that will outwork almost any other going in Star City, Green Arrow's or Red Robin's. I can also help get your mother into position to clean up the whole town, and not just the Triangle.

I can also help you keep the heat off your back when the masks come snooping around, because you know they will." Angie says.

"That sound you hear, right above the sound of the people upstairs having sex, is opportunity knocking. Care to hear me out?" she asks.

Give her time, Angie. She's starting out slow, but she'll get better over time. Ordinarily Zoe tried to keep a low profile and not run around antagonizing people, but she took refuge in the fact that the woman started it.

"Care to speak your mind without yanking my chain with a dumb trick like serving papers?" The paper was still on the floor. Zoe wouldn't touch it on a bet. "I'll let you in, but the first wrong move and the next sound you'll hear right about the people upstairs having sex and opportunity knocking will be my gun in a very small enclosed space."

"Fair enough." she says, suddenly glad that she wasn't invisible to technology like Dad. Her T-Sphere was going to be her only way out of here if the kid decided to get antsy.

She walks back to Zoe's place and picks up the paper and slips it back inside her suit-coat.

"Okay, let's start with introductions. You're Zoe Torres and I'm Angela Holt. Nice to meet you. I could use someone with your knowledge and expertise for a team I'm putting together." she says.

Zoe closed the door behind Angela. "You're either heavy into obscure research or creepy on a level that runs the streets around here," she said. This was weird coming on the heels of Red Robin's nocturnal visits and the girl that lost her way and took refuge in Mom's office.

"What sort of team and why would I want to be on it?"

"A team that could make use of your...more ecletic talents. You're a damn good shot from what I've read. You've also lived in Star City most of, if not your whole life. You've got area knowledge I could use." Angie says, surreptitiously getting a look at the apartment.

"As for the why...well, it's like I said. I can help you with the Triangle and keeping it safe so that kids don't have to run home the moment the street lights come on and young women aren't having to sell themselves." Angie says.

"At the rate things are going around here, only one of two outcomes is possible: One is that the criminals around here take over and you all start living in a police state until the cops and masks get off their ass do something. Innocent people get caught in the crossfire.

Option two is that the masks /do/ come in and do something...and then the Triangle ends up like Gotham, where you've got another kind of kingpin enforcing his will on the populace. And anyone who doesn't play by his set of outdated rules gets shut down...and so does anyone working with them." Angie says.

It was smart, playing on Zoe's distrust of anything in a cape or cowl calling itself a hero.

"This area was cleaned up once. Then a cape promised to help keep it that way. They haven't cared one way or the other about the Triangle in fifteen years. Do you know why it's called the Triangle?"

"I have to say I don't. Why is it called the Triangle?" Angie asks.

"There are three separate gangs trying to take control of this one little area. Three separate gangs, with their own stable of dirty cops and crooked politicians to keep anything resembling development from happening down here. Here is where the different drug dealers and pimps all try for the same customers, and the people who live here get caught in the crossfire."

She crossed her arms. "Promising me help means you and whatever army you have will go up against three gangs. One is bad enough. You willing to make that assurance without checking with anybody?"

Angie considers the other three members of the team for a moment. No, she can't think of anyone who would have a problem with something like this.

"Trust me, between you and the people you'll be working with, those three gangs are sorely outnumbered. We can do it as clean or as messy as you want. No one this team will be against catching a body if necessary.

The only thing I'd warn you of is that any help offered to you, your teammates will probably expect in return when it comes time to handle their business. Can you be ready for anything thrown at you, if you accept?" Angie asks.

"I pay my debts. They help me, I help them." She didn't blink at the suggestion of messy or clean. Zoe knew a long time ago that she didn't have a problem with doing what had to be done and making it an example to others.

"How do I contact you?" she said abruptly.

Angie pulls out a business card and flips it over to show her a handwritten number on the back.

"Call this number, leave a message. I'll call you back within ten minutes unless I'm dead." Angie says.

"Twenty minutes in case of death?" Zoe quipped, showing a slice of humor that most didn't see. She took the card and looked at the number, committing it to memory before slipping it into her front jeans pocket.

Angie favors Zoe with a genuine smile of her own.

"Yeah, something like that." she says.

"You have any other questions for me that might sway your decision to accept? Oh, I should warn you: don't worry about gear. You're going to get top of the line stuff if you come to work with me." she says.

"If you mean aside from the money you'll be making, yes, I can get you access to top-of-the-line medical equipment and medicine." Angie says.

"Do you have a pre-existing condition that will make working with the team an issue?" she asks.

"No, but if I get myself killed working for you, I want my mother to at least get paid for the trouble. It's called life insurance." It sounded to Zoe like this was the sort of job that had a limited life span, and oddly enough that didn't bother her.

"Well, I'm going to do everything I can to keep that from happening, but in case you are killed, yes, we will have precautions in place so that none of what you do falls back on her.

And she'll be provided for as well." Angie says.

"Speaking of, the intel I have says that your mother is working at trying to get legit businesses to come into the Triangle and help turn the place around. I know people who could probably get the right people to listen to what she's saying, if you think that's a worthwhile strategy." Angie offers.

"Getting anybody to listen is a worthwhile strategy." She paused. "I'll give you an answer in a couple of days, but I'm likely to say yes."

She supposed she should ask other questions, like who else was on this team and what would they be expected to do, but she already knew she'd practically sell her soul to get the Triangle back to the way it was after Deadshot came though. As long as Mom was getting something out of it as well, it didn't sound like a bad deal.

"Fine. You'll hear from me by then."

Zoe couldn't resist a dig at the woman. "When you try the server cover again, use an envelope and hand it to them while you say their name. Once they're touching it, then tell them they've been served. It'll make your cover more believable."

"Around here I'll use whatever gets the job done." Zoe went to the door after her to make sure the woman left. "Gun, mouth, couple of rocks against a hard head or a windshield. If your car is gone from the street, walk eight blocks to the west before you call a cab. They won't come down here."
