Unfortunately, people came to the apartment all the time. Neighbors and acquaintances who didn't want to go to the office would wait until they thought Michelle was at home and want to talk to her here. After it got around that Zoe was armed and would answer the door herself, they made sure not to lurk suspiciously in the hall.

Today was no different, except that Michelle wasn't home. She was at the office. Zoe answered the door, half expecting that red bird guy from the other night. He'd said he'd be in touch, but she hadn't seen him.

She opened the door and looked at the strange woman standing in the hall.
