Proteus, the Old Man of the Sea, swam through the water seeking his target.

"Arthur Josephy Curry," he said when he finally found AJ. "I am Proteus and you have been selected to be my avatar."

AJ, who had been patrolling just outside Poseidonis, is caught by surprise and puts up his guard.

"Whoa, Proteus? Avatar? Just what's going on?" He asks, suspicious.

Aj raises an eyebrow at the god. "No, I'm not. I've been sort of busy lately. I take it that there's a lot of this going on that I don't know about."

Proteus scowled. "The Titans are free and are destroying things in the mortal world. Soon they will try to destroy the gods. We cannot interfere in the mortal world and need avatars to act in our stead."

AJ takes a second to listen and then realizes what he's talking about. "Oh. Right. That..." He sighs and pushes his hair back. "Just so you know, I don't really believe in all this stuff about Titans and Gods. I just think they're monsters or highly evolved beings...but if me being your avatar is going to help stop these Titans, then I'm up for it."

Proteus reached out and touched AJ's shoulder to transfer his powers to the man. "You will have all of my powers, including the ability to change your shape when needed. Use them wisely."

He felt the power rush through him. It was exhilarating to say the least. AJ looks back at Proteus and nods, having come to a new understanding.

"I will. Thank you."
