When Aiden finds his big sister, it's after searching a few rooms already. He woke up shaking and clutching his pillow, which is now just little pieces all over his bedroom floor. The nightmare scared him, but now something's happened to Lian, and somehow he knows she saw the same awful things he did.
He rushes to her, turning her on her side so she doesn't asphyxiate, like Aunt Bette taught him. Lian's still breathing, too. He looks for head wounds and then gently feels her neck without moving her. She's okay.
"Lian?" He pats her cheek with the back of his hand. "Wake up, somethin' happened."
