Some days you feel like a bum.... (Open to JSA, Post-Thangarian Invasion)
Mark was frankly surprised. He hadn't even realized he hadn't taken care of the paperwork for the lease on his apartment. So with what little dignity he had he found himself staying at the brownstone.

It hadn't actually mattered. Since he was one of the older members of thew new JSA it actually made sense to stay around. Of course he still was deeply embarrassed he was currently homeless. He tried to not let anyone know about that. He was away early every morning for work and tried to stay out of everyone's way.

Then he had another patch of bad luck. The budget was getting cut. The library he worked at couldn't afford to keep him around. It sucked.

So instead of being perfectly reasonable about the bad luck he did NOT want to talk about he was drinking beer and eating dry cheerios.

Obviously he wasn't in a good mood. And he was going to have to learn to talk to someone on the team.

Nic just looked at Mark, her eyes growing wider and more round, then filling with tears, then the lower lip sticking out into a lethally perfect pout, complete with the Hurt Feelings expression.

"I don't claim everyone. Is special." She sighs, wings drooping. "Yeah. Everyone's gotta keep an eye on Nic. She'll just get kidnapped again or worse. I'll go get my tracking device and wallet. Not sure where Rex put the chains."

Oh god. Oh God. She was upset.

"I'm sorry Nic. I'm...." He should go for the truth. "While I understand how other people feel, I'm not used to people trying to include me. Ans I don't think you'll get eaten alive or anything. I think it's the other way around."

He smirks trying to sound like he's being nice. "I bet you'd eat a whole gaggle of jocks alive. And laugh about it too. You seem to be a.... Very cheerful sort. Not like me. I'm boring."

"Actually, boys don't like me. They'd probably ask me where Mickey is. No one likes me much on my own in general. So, are we getting you shoes and attempting to socialize you? We have a one misunderstood and/or angst-ridden person rule and I get dibs for the time being on account of smelly Thanagarians and my inability to get a date that isn't trying to get into Mickey's pants via me."

She scratched at a wing a bit.

"And you're not boring."

Will was getting sick of the girl who obviously had a better social life and chance at dating than he did mope like this.

"You're worried on not getting a date? You're Hawk-frikkin'-girl. I'm lucky if a girl looks twice at me, and I can guarantee you there are plenty-o-droolers for you. You have good friends and a lot going for you in every department, so you really need to stop this."
