Victory and More
Mongul and Blackfire were defeated, and Natand'r saw to it that his mother was treated for her wounds before he incarcerated her.  She was volatile and unpredictable, but she was his mother.  He was still unconscious and being dealt with elsewhere.  Blackfire has prepared a way to keep him at bay and incarcerated should she find her usefulness for him to end, and Natand'r knew it all to well and instructed his guards to use it.  With that side of the family dealt with, he looked to his other family to have A Talk.

"I believe we have things to discuss, Alerron Yat."

He wasn't very concerned with the other "heroes" as much as he was his cousin.

"That we do, Natand'r." Alerron says darkly. After the condition he found Mar'i in, Alerron is very much ready to fight again, if he's not one-hundred percent.

"Your guards violated my sister. Your parents have wronged mine with the Black Mercys, which cannot be removed. My mother was held here for two months before that.

My grievances with New Tameran are many, Cousin. How will you address them?" Alerron asks.

Natand'r did not show any expression. His eyes had been shielded by his mother until the group of Invaders set foot on Tamaran. Information had slowly come into his possession during the battle, and he didn't believe it to be possible until he saw the joy his father took in torturing that human boy. Truthfully, he had come to terms about how to set things right with his parents' actions.

Until he learned of Alerron's sister. Until this moment, Natand'r didn't know she existed.

"My guards did what exactly?" His look was grim and his eyes were like Death.

"They violated her." Alerron said. He explains, in detail, how he found Mar'i in the dungeon.

"Your mother allowed what happened to my mother to happen to my sister, Natand'r. I want the guards responsible dealt with. If you will not do it, then I will." Alerron says, his eyes flashing with anger.

"Why did you not aid either of them once you knew what was happening?" Alerron asks.

"Because you are the first one to fully inform me, Alerron. You are lucky I saw joy in my father's eyes after hearing the way these Intruders spoke of my parents, or I might not have aided in his defeat. You have your right to be angry, but do not dare direct that anger at me."

His look was still grim and his eyes remained like Death. Hating Koriand'r and her family was something he was taught. It was something he grew up with, along with many other values. And in under a day, his perception of the values he had been taught were ripped to shreds. He had no trust for his parents, and the love was hanging in the balance. He felt sorry for Alerron, yes. But Natand'r was not going to allow anyone to place blame on him.

"Tell me which guards were watching over your sister and I will have them punished, severely. I know the origin of the Black Mercies and I can, in time, find a way to help Koriand'r and your father. Those are guaranteed."

"Those who are responsible for my mother and father's attacks have paid, though not nearly enough, in my estimation. The Lanterns are offering to aid in helping them heal, but it will take time. You may be able to coordinate with them." Alerron says.

"If I knew which guards were responsible, I would deal with it myself. As I do not, I would ask that we have Mar'i point them out, if she is willing." Alerron offers.

Alerron is quiet for a moment, before continuing.

"I do not seek further war with you, Natand'r. Not because I feel that I am unable to win, but simply because we are family and it is worthless to continue our mothers' war, when we both see what it has cost them." Alerron says.

He understood that point entirely. There were things Natand'r had lost, too, that he could not get back. They weren't as physical as the things Alerron had lost, but they were just as important.

"I agree." He had nothing else to say on the matter that he wanted to say out loud. "I will work on my own to discover how to heal your parents. Fighting is not the only thing my father instructed me in. And if your sister does identify the guards, you will let me handle them."

Alerron balked. "I am supposed to sit back and watch while you deal with whoever hurt my sister? Natand'r, you demand much and give little in return. How do I know that they will be dealt with and not given free pass? What if they claim they were simply following orders?"

Alerron was not big on the idea of any who aided in his sister's pain being let off with, as the humans called it, a slap on the wrist.

"You are not going to watch at all, so I suppose that means you must trust my word. I do not truly care what excuse they give for their actions." He brought his hand to his head for the first time and almost sighed. "And you can trust my word, Alerron."

"That is not acceptable, Natand'r. I need to be there with Mar'i when she shows you her attackers. She will need support, and you cannot provide her that." Alerron says.

"Or, if you will not allow me, then allow Katima to be with her." he says.

"Can you assure me that this Katima will not attempt to take matters into her own hands?"

"I will need to prepare her, but you have my word that she will observe all customs and New Tameran's rule of law. I want only to know that Mar'i's attackers are punished." Alerron says.

"There is something else we should discuss, regarding the succession and imminent rulership of New Tameran. My mother was named successor years ago, by our grandparents and your mother betrayed her and began this cycle of hatred.

I do not seek to continue that cycle, but it is worth discussing our intentions, is it not?" Alerron asks.

"Then I will allow her to watch over your sister."

He paused and listened, and he did grew more serious.

"As long as all you seek is to become affiliated with the royal family once again, then I will oblige. But I will not step aside as successor to the throne."

Alerron had to hold his tongue and consider his words. He and Natand'r were both proud men, and that pride could easily lead them to blows.

"I have no intention of instating my claim to the throne, Natand'r. For the treatment New Tameran has shown myself, my mother and my sister before now, I want nothing from them." Alerron says. He almost considers this planet as bad as Daxam, but the Daxamites can at least blame thousands of years of xenophobia for their poor treatment of outsiders.

"I simply do not want any of my friends or allies accosted during our time here. We will depart as soon as Mar'i can go and we will not trouble you again." he says.

"That is acceptable." He refrained from saying anything else. Natand'r had a lot of work to do to repair Tamaran. And his first order of business had to be to deal with his parents. Mongul was meant to be banished and his mother was meant to be imprisoned and carefully watched. It hurt him to do it, but it had to be done.

"It... would not be trouble to repair our damaged family at some point. I thought I would let you know that, at least." He looked away from Alerron to avoid eyes contact. Bonding was not his strong suit.

"I...would like that, Natand'r. As I said, I do not wish the war that destroyed our mothers to claim us as well." Alerron says.

"I understand that you will want to keep your mother close, but what of Mongul? Will you turn him over to the Green Lanterns for his crimes here, and across the cosmos?"

Natand'r paused for a moment before he said anything.

"My father has twisted the purpose of the Black Mercy into something horrid and used it for his twisted pleasure. I will let him see the true purpose of the Black Mercy face to face. Do you have any objections?"

Upon hearing this, Alerron favors his cousin with a smile.

"I think it is a more than fitting punishment for your father. I do not object in any fashion." Alerron says.

Alerron pauses another moment before speaking again.

"Thank you, Natand'r. You could have easily chosen a different course in this, but I am glad you did not."

That was an awkward moment for Natand'r. It was supposed to be a good moment.

"I..." He paused. "I chose what is best for Tamaran."

He had some growing to do in order to be comfortable with his cousin. But in the back of his mind, Natand'r smiled.

"I will go and speak to Katima and Mar'i. Should I send them to you as soon as possible, or will you summon them when they are needed?" Alerron asks.
