The Risks of the Job
High speed chases and shoot outs sometimes were part of the job. So were dodging knives and flesh hitting flesh in a fight for her life. She had gotten so used to how rough things could get that she forgot what it was like to have an easy day on the job.
Today was not that day. Middle aged man married with kids disappeared from work one day. No lovers. No deep dark secrets. He was just gone like the wind. Except there was an unusual lack of evidence.
At least none just anyone would find. She found tickets on a bus from Star City to San Fransisco. It did not end there. She found the room he had stayed in. She had to pick the locks then discovered the mess he left. She looked everything over and then up went an eye brow. She had to go back.
Damn it she had to hurry too, the moon was full tonight.
Tonight she rushes after a man turned into a monster. She thinks he can be helped. She has a tranq gun and a list of people who might be able to help. After all she was not going to see anyone get killed, not tonight.
Then it goes wrong. The creature turned her into the prey and she gets thrown bleeding from the arm he bit off the side of a building. Shit. Her arm burns and she fights to get her grappling hook out of her coat.
She has five seconds damn it. Four and then three and she has it out and dangles dangerously high. She isn't sure she can get herself up but she has to. Tonight is going to be a long night.
