Watch Repairs (open)
The cars drive by outside, the birds chirp, and inside twenty-four separate clocks tick in perfect unison. A small get away lair for Professor IQ back in the day, taken over by Clock King afterwards, and now in the possession of one "Scott Bartholomew West" or, as his real name was, Scott Bartholomew Rayner-West or Knight-Rayner-West, depending on the side of the family, and forever known as Highball to his grandmother.

Calling him Scott would be much easier. And in this era, money is everything. So Scott is ready not only for alerts from Scooter (downstairs in the lab, watching The Shawshank Redemption), but also for customers with broken time pieces.

Just another day at Western Time Watch Repairs.

A sound goes off in the ear piece of Scott West.

Scott's musical code. He listens to it and nods. He looks up to the man who has entered his building.

"Welcome to Western Time Watch Repairs. I'm Scott West, how may I be of service?"

Henry looks around the shop. "Scott West, huh? You related to the West family in Keystone City?"

"Distant relative, if you go back enough generations. Now, how can I help you today? I repair all manner of devices, watches, clocks, DVD players, televisions, automobiles, rings." Scott makes sure to have that last word hang in the air as he stands up and takes a watch off the rack behind him and puts it back on his work bench.

He grins. One last thing to check. "I think you met my friend the other day," Henry points out. "You offered him some help, I think? He was looking kinda down... you might even say blue."

"Ah! One second!" Scott takes out a small device looking like if a tv remote and a mag lite had a baby and aims it at the door. "That Doctor Who show, great for inspiration for tech. So, you're Avalon's partner? Scott West, Gold Sentinel, Hero of the 26th Century. Glad to meet you."

The advantage to being raised by Hal Jordan is hearing all the stories about Booster Gold, the Legion, and other time-traveling heroes growing up.

Henry shakes his hand firmly. "Henry Jordan," he replies. "Green Lantern. Hero of the 21st Century. So what brings you back 500 years?"

"Eh. Combination of factors. Mostly that it was just too... crowded in the future. Decided I'd try the Booster Gold path, come back in time to be a hero. Give it a shot." Scott stretches his arms. "Figure some 26th century mojo could help fight crime a little more efficiently around here."

Henry raises an eyebrow. Right. The Booster Gold path... pretty much what he suspected.

"Riiiight," Henry replies a little skeptically. "Well, the help is certainly appreciated. What sort of tech did you bring back?"

Scott looks around. Sonic dampener is up, door is locked. Scott aims his makeshift flashlight thingamajig, and the bookshelf on the wall slides over. A small golden robot flies up with a small sphere under him.

"Got your costume sir!" Scott grabs it and grins.

"Thanks, Scooter. Let's see... cold ray, centrifuge ray, lasers, stun blasters, flight suit, wind control device, force field and magnetic field generators, strength increaser. Nice spread, over all. I'm trying to work on a few other gadgets, recreating my old favorites and a few new ones. First priority should be the Elixer Mixer." Scott nods, and Scooter bobs in the air, acting like a nod.

Henry nods. "Not bad, not bad. And you're descended from the Flash family, huh? Any of that mojo end up in you?"

"From what the Lifeforce guy says as well as any future scans, no. I can think a little faster than normal, but that may have just been trying to catch up. Well... Mom's side of the family is all Flashes and your Corps, and Dad's is most of the Starknights and he himself is actually a Quick, taking over for his old college professor. I figure since my whole family is open identity, that won't be a problem to tell you.

"As for what I got? Nothing. No speed, no ring, no formula, no Star device. I had to make all of this by my own two hands.

"What about you? A Jordan? Wait... Yeah, I met a relative o yours growing up. My family is the Rayners and the Scotts. That's where I got my name, actually. So... what's it like? What's it like to have that ring on your finger?"

"It's..." He considers a moment. "Hang on. The shop is closed, right?"

Scott flips a switch, and the neon sign in the window goes out. "It is now. I'll have to take Mrs. Lebowitz her Timex later so she doesn't get angry though. Why?"

For a genius, Scott sure is slow sometimes.

Henry grins. "There's a story my dad told me once about when he was working with the Flash and a particular ancestor of yours when he was still Kid Flash. Wally had lost his powers temporarily and still wanted to help out. So Dad... well..."

His ring glows for a moment, and Scott's clothes transform into that of a Green Lantern.

"I can loan out a bit of it, for a little while." He grins at Scott. "Welcome to the Green Lanterns... for a few minutes, anyway."

Is this a particularly smart idea? Not if it was exactly what it looked like. But Henry isn't so much loaning Scott his power as he's transformed Scott's clothing. He's also setting the ring to scan Scott's mind for strong impulses of focused will, so that he'll be able to create effects through Henry's own ring -- as long as Henry wills it so. He won't be able to do any real damage.

Henry grins. This will actually make a good test to see if this guy is trustworthy or not.

"Woah. Woah woah woah WOAH!" Scott can feel it. The suit. The solidified will power. Different than the hands his mother or sister would use to catch him from great heights, more... intimate.

Raw power, raw will. Raw creativity.

"Oh, man... I mean..." Scott focuses his mind outward. Attempting to create one thing he knows. A perfectly working watch, every gear in place.

The watch forms in front of him, each piece creating individually and sliding into place before the back closes.

"Not bad, not bad..." Henry nods. "But... how about this?"

A glow envelopes Henry as his street clothes become his uniform, and he begins to rise into the air.

"Ah, see, flight I'm used to. Though..." Scott flies up as well. "This doesn't tingle like my suit does. This is... extreme. Crazy. I chose the right era to come back to. I mean, there's barely a dozen Lanterns back home. Here, the rings must number in the thousands..."

Henry grins. "Yeah, there's a huge difference between ringed-flight and mechanical flight. But..." He pauses as the other thing Scott said registers. "Wait, what? What happened to the Corps?"

"No one really remembers. Too many Crisises in the future, one after another. The 23rd century was a big one, before the Starknghts formed. I think the Crisis in the Stars took out one of them, but no one remembers which one. The Greens are the only ones left by the 2600s, and there are only a dozen or two left in the universe. My mom and my sister are two of them, and that Yat guy runs the show. They said "Without the Blood of Maltus, the Lights shall fade for a million moons." That's how Mom always put it. Some big prophecy mumbo jumbo. The Starknights have been trying to work with others in space, setting up... not a Corps, but something to fill the void. My aunts and uncles are normally off doing that.” Scott looks at Henry.

“Sorry. I guess that's all a bit much to take in.”

Henry frowns. "I'll need everything you can get me on that period. Maybe we can change things -- help some of the other Corps survive. At least the blue, maybe the indigo and violet..."

He's not too happy with the idea of destiny. Frankly, Henry would rather write the future himself.

Scott nods. "For that... I'll need some Yttrium 113 to repair my Chronoporter. It'll take me a while, but once I can get back to the 26th century and get my gagdets, I can get more than a full report. Until then, we'll have to go off of the minor reports Scooter has."

Scooter flies over and hands a disk to Henry. "Dot pdf format of all of my Lantern history files. Sadly, I was a Flash Museum drone, so I won't be of too much help. And there will be minor temporal anomalies based on our inclusion in the past time stream." Scooter nods and hovers back over. Scott frowns.

"Sorry man. I didn't think about it... I mean... It's gotta be much harder for you to learn that than it was for me. For me it was the past. For you... it's a highly probable future..."

Henry purses his lips in thought. "It's only the highly probably future if I let it be," he replies. "But with what I can learn from you... that's just a heads-up warning of stuff coming our way."

He ponders. "Where can we find Yttrium 113?"

"Um... outside of a Large Hadron Collider, circa 2234 or later... nowhere in the natural world. Unless... I have some Yttrium 77 in the back... could your ring cause enough of a reaction to create the 113 isotope?"

"Scooter! Protocol NTAR-Y 113!" Scooter nods and flies off. He comes back with a Erlenmeyer flask filled with a wiry, silvery white metal.

"This is Yttrium 77. We need to bombard this with beta particles until we can make enough of this Yttrium 113. Roughly 7 grams. I can use this for a new Chronoporter circuit, then take myself back to the future and get you a history report. Assuming I don't miss but more than a day or two...

"Oh, and just a warning: once we hit 98, this baby's going to go crazy radioactive."
