Katima shakes her dark head and sets her cup down on the coffee table.
"I don't really know how to, Avalon. I've never really been around other people. I was small when my family died. All I know is my Tribe and my training with the Warlords. There was no place to learn shielding. I was taught to observe, feel, use.
"I hurt a lot," she admits.
