For perhaps the first time ever Katima seemed less than strong, graceful, and assured. She suddenly seemed every bit the awkward teenager most her age would be, biting at her lip and looking frightened.
"Avalon, I've never been to school in my entire life. The Tribe taught me to read and write but...all I know is the Tribe. I will help...but I'm afraid I am going to be very stupid by earth standards."
