The Calm Before the Storm (Open)
Maria finished up the report she was working on and shut down her computer. Another day working at Wayne Enterprise was over. It was time to go grab a bite to eat and then down the costume. Night was coming to Gotham and that meant its criminal element would come out. Maria grabbed her purse and coat and headed out of the building.

	Thomas shrugs and lets them figure out the money thing, not really caring enough to do the expected posturing with back and forth insisting on paying. Guy had invited them to sit and was Maria's...whatever, so he'd let it be her call. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

The amusement doesn't leave. With another, less self-assured man, this would be more fun. But it's been entertaining enough anyway. "Mmm, no she wouldn't have told you," he chuckled slightly. "Not exactly topics to encourage when meeting...people you don't find boring." He smirked slightly and then took his time putting the menu on the side before explaining.

"Family."

	"And he actually admits it," Maria said and pinched his cheek after coming back to the table. Their order was in and now they just had to wait. Maria slid into her chair. He usually just stuck with 'family' because cousins wasn't quite accurate but alternate universe uncle was even odder.

"In the city or the area in general?" Because the guy was clearly from farther away than the next city over. "Surprising move though."

	"I must, given how I put up with you," he shot back at Maria with a roll of his eyes. "Gotham is an interesting choice of an east coast base for most, unless they have specific business in Gotham itself. Property prices are high despite everything." 	Metropolis had its own charms. It just happened to wear blue and red. Their food was delivered and Maria happily dug into her pizza. She wanted to hear Tomas' answer to why he was in Gotham. Not that she was complaining that he was in Gotham. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Export markets. Mostly working with maquiladoras... purchasing American and Canadian raw materials and selling them to Mexican manufacturers of specialty parts. Mostly for the Automotive and Aeronautics markets. So I spend a lot of time traveling and working with various companies who do import-export, and working with various car and aeronautics companies. Including a few here. This isn't a bad base to work out of in the US, plenty of flights to Detroit, Metropolis, Seattle, LA and Star City."
