Vixen and Redwing
At least it was daytime this time.  When it came to Gotham City, Nala was usually only active at night and ran into the more unsavory characters scattered about the city (or she was walking the runway with this season's latest fashions, of course).  And to be honest, it seemed like Gotham City was stuck in a perpetual nighttime.  On the rare occasion that Nala spent her day out in the city, it was usually with a friend that was local.  Not surprisingly, today was no different.  She had decided to meet up with her friend Joy Drake for lunch, and then some shopping afterwards.  Nala was particularly excited for the shopping, because there were a few earrings she'd spotted on the walk to Panera Bread that she wanted desperately.

It was nice to find time to just breathe. Between her studies and her extracurricular activities - which really was the most polite way of describing her vigilante crimefighting - Joy rarely ever had time to herself. It wasn't the worst thing in the world, she enjoyed her classes and being part of the family business had always just made sense, but she was definitely glad to have some time to just be Joy. The fact that being Joy in this instance meant spending time with one of her good friends was just a bonus. A very nice bonus. It was just a shame that Sin was busy.

She was already at Panera when Nala showed up, and she stood from the table where she was looking over some notes for an exam - okay, she hadn't entirely left school behind - to wave her over. "It's so good to see you," she said brightly, smiling warmly at the other woman. "I swear, I feel like all I do any more is go to class and work. I never see you anymore." Work, of course, meant something very different for them than it did for most people.

Nala very quickly spotted her waving friend. A smile spread from cheek to cheek, and she walked over to Joy. Possibly out of habit - because she only did it when she was happy - she walked her signature runway walk all the way until she was right in front of Joy. She might have attracted some attention with that, given the number of people walking by her, but she paid no mind to them.

"It's so good to see you, too," Nala replied, opening her arms to give her friend a hug. "I know how you feel, minus the class. Just work and work for me, but at least we get to settle down and have today to ourselves." Yes, work did mean something very different for them than it did for most people. If she didn't put some sort of emphasis on the codeword, though, she'd get confused as to which kind of work she was talking about. Some of the other girls on the runway, commercials, or in photoshoots could be just as nasty as a run-of-the-mill villain.

"Did you order yet, or were you waiting for me to get here?" she asked apologetically. She wasn't sure if Joy had eaten much yet, so she didn't want to keep her waiting if she was hungry. God knows Panera had it's moments where it took forever to get your food.

Nala certainly did draw looks in public. Not that Joy could blame anyone. Her friend was absolutely gorgeous, and it was obvious to anyone with eyes that she was a model. And if they didn't think that she was, they definitely thought she should be. Joy had never been jealous of Nala or Sin. They might have been prettier, but she'd always been comfortable with how she looked. She supposed it came down to two very good sets of parents who had always taught her to be confident in herself. Besides, Janie thought she was awesome and nothing beat a little sister looking up to you.

"How is work going for you?" she asked. She's ask about work later, but for now she just wanted to hear about bitchy models and fashion and other normal things. She got enough supervillains and drama to not want to deal with it in one of her few real moments of free time. "Looking gorgeous and making everyone else catty and jealous? That's how it works, right?" She grinned, showing she was just joking, and then shook her head when Nala asked if she'd ordered.

"I figured I'd just wait for you," she said. "I wasn't starving or anything, so it seemed rude to rush before you even got here. Besides, that way we can both eat, not have one of those weird timing things happen where I finish when you're just getting started and then we both sit awkwardly."

Nonsense; Joy was plenty beautiful. She was just too humble to recognize it, but everybody else could see it. The only difference between her beauty and Nala's, was that Nala just knew how to carry herself to attract attention. If Joy ever started carrying herself like that? Watch out, world; a beauty queen would be born. That was Nala's thought on the matter, should it ever actually arise in conversation.

"Oh, the cattiness and jealousy is always there," Nala agreed, grinning. "Some of these girls just don't know how to act. I'm surprised they even made it this far in the industry with their attitudes. They have no respect for anybody else. It's really quite grating." Especially because they all knew Nala could lay a smack down on them, and that she would if they got her temper going enough. Meditation and channeling her chi did wonders for keeping her jobs.

Nala chuckled. "I'm glad you weren't starving," she said. "I was worried maybe you hadn't eaten yet, and I didn't want you to stand around hungry."
