Healing Process
Josh shifts slightly on his perch and sighs. It's dark out but he doesn't care. The healer's in Henry's backyard, up in a tree and in a relaxed position. He's got the hood of his sweatshirt up and is just staring up at the stars through the leaves. He can sense who's inside and he fights the urge to tear up again. He's just thankful his powers got rid of the telltale signs that he'd been crying earlier.

"Maybe I should just go tonight. What do you think?" he asks a cat that's perched in the tree with him. The feline yawns, stretches, and then walks away. Josh just sighs again.

They had just barely reached the edge of downtown when the blast happens and there is so much red. Katima physically recoils and as she does her Indigo self returns full-force.

"I feel rage."

She looks at Josh.

"We have major trouble. It looks like Henry does need us to take care of Coast City after all. There are dying. You take the casualties. I'm taking down the Lantern."

Lantern? Oh yes. Red Lantern.

"You coward!"

Josh doesn't have the senses of an Indigo Lantern but the moment that blast hits, he's in pain.

"Ahhh!" he yells, stumbling and falling to one knee with his head in his hands. After a moment he looks up.

"R-r-right," he says, pulling his hood back up. "What the hell is with that guy?" he murmurs, rushing forward. The healer starts to glow with white light as he heads for the injured.

	The alien points at Katima. "Where is the Green Lantern? Gorius challenges the Green Lantern to personal combat!" But he doesn't fire any further blasts. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Coast City is my charge."

Katima approaches him defiantly, getting closer than perhaps most might but Katima is not most. She is an Indigo, a light that gives her a special power.

"You will find no Green Lanterns here. Instead..."

BA-BUM. BA-BUM. BA-BUM.

She can feel it even as her ring still glows mostly Indigo. She can hear it as her ring starts to change and then she does. Her heart stops. The rage blood fills her and with a sick choking sounds it rises in her throat. In an instant the transformation is complete and compassion is gone. There is only rage.

"Only Red Lanterns. YOU ARE TRESPASSING ON MY SECTOR!"

Josh is focusing more on healing the injured and trying to block out whatever it is the Red Lantern is. He heals people with great speed, sending them away from the area quickly. He's no lantern but he's got his own light.

Of course he's just about to move onto one of the last victims when he senses the change in Katima. The teen's eyes go wide and his attention turns to Gorius. Assuming the huge alien is the one that hurt Katima, Josh rushes forward. The white glow grows into those white flames again and with uncanny agility, he leaps up to try landing on the alien's back.

"Hey! No hurting my friend!" he says, starting to pour his healing power into Gorius with the aim of restarting his heart and starting the production of his natural blood again. Given what he senses from the alien and the red ring, he assumes it will mess with his power a lot.

	Josh pours his energy into Gorius, starting its heart, restoring blood flow... and Gorius stagger a moment... until the ring fights back, cutting off Josh's power. "GORIUS HATES CHEATERS!" he bellows, still staggered. "GORIUS CHALLENGES BOTH OF YOU!" (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"GORIUS HAS NO AUTHORITY!" Katima fires a beam of light from her own "red" ring. The timing is excellent and the fact that it is both a "red" ring and her own Indigo ring, the force that comes at Gorius is enough to disrupt his own, restoring Josh. "GORIUS IS NOT WELCOME HERE!" She fires again, this time at Gorius with the intent to stun and grasp. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Josh grits his teeth and holds in the yell of pain. He can feel the burn from Gorius' retaliation and his regeneration kicking back against it. He pushes back with his power, stronger than before. When he sees Katima firing her beam, Josh jumps back. He flips to the ground and rolls to the side to avoid being caught in the blast. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"GORIUS LEAVE NOW!" The grasping blast is tight and strong. So is the woman who wields it and with great strength, Katima rears back and hurls Gorius from downtown. From Earth. From the Solar System. Deep into space. As soon as Gorius leaves proximity, Katima's heart starts beating wildly. The red rage leaves her and she collapses to the ground. For just a moment, Josh curses the fact that he really doesn't have much in the way of combat-helpful powers. He turns his healing powers on the remaining injured but keeps careful watch on Gorius.

When the alien is flung, Josh just stares. "Okay...do not make Katima mad..." he trails off to himself. Sensing all the sudden changes, he rushes over to Katima and props her up. "Katima...hey...wake up," he says, a bit worried.

	Katima remains as still as death for several long, nervous moments before her blue eyes blink open and she smiles faintly at Josh. "I always wondered if that trick worked on any other color than Green. You okay?" (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
