And sometimes life is a party @ 06:27 pm

Work had been boring lately. Too many unhappy spouses or just very paranoid people for her tastes. It was going to drive her nuts if she didn't get a change of pace. Which was why when a new client came to her wanting help but not being sure who to go to she felt a strange sense of satisfaction. She liked knowing that people trusted her and found herself agreeing to help out.

She found herself waving the fee too. It seemed that there was a local problem. Some members o the Jokerz had been destroying store fronts in a part of Gotham that brushed up against Crime Alley. That wasn't good because the cops were always a bit slower to respond.

She decided she was going to do something about it. She dressed warmly and cloaked herself in darker clothing as she prowled the area trying to blend in as she waited. It was chilly out tonight and found herself wishing she had a thermos of coffee or something.

Hell if she had brought her car closer she could have stored her cross bow in it instead of having the collapsible one in her coat. She didn't like the weight of it really. Oh well looked like she'd just have to make do.

He was sleeping when the dream came to him. It had been years since he had seen the only brother he had truly thought he had. He had been a very lonely boy. No family had truly welcomed him until he had been taken in by Duncan MacLeod and his wife Tessa. They had been very kind people. Tessa had been an artist while Duncan sold antiques. They had another foster boy by the name of Darius.

For some reason he dreams of them tonight. He dreams of the accident that took him away from them because Darius had told him while they waited in the group home to be put into different foster homes that he wanted to be a priest. He had no idea why the older boy had said that. But it rang in his mind.

Then he thought he saw Darius as an adult in what looked like priestly vestments. So his brother had spoken true. He was trying to help someone. Someone was in trouble.

Then there was fire and blood. Then death and Darius' eyes staring at him in the dim lights of a church and Mark wakes up screaming.

"DARIUS," he falls from his bed sweating and blinks when he hears the phone ringing. He picks it up with a tired voice.

Phone calls and magic that isn't )
