First Strike
All across the country, members of the Cult of Kobra were striking. Technology thefts had already been on the up, as well as weapons thefts from various government depots. The serpents struck without mercy, taking what they needed, and fleeing just as quickly. Both Barr brothers had been dead for years, but the organization had fallen into other hands. It was speculated that the long term goal was the selection of a new Kobra... but in the meantime, under the guidance of someone called the Serpent Supreme, their short term goals of terror, in preparation for the coming Kali Yuga, remained unchanged.

And soon... the world would know even greater terror that it had before.

	"You think?" Dinadan retorts, shoving his chair back and using it as a step to mount the table. "PROCEED QUICKLY AND QUIETLY TO THE EXITS!" he roars over the hubbub of panicking students. Petra can't help but smile at Din being all assertive and such. It's cute, but also kind of hot.

"Nothing in the lab that's going to react too violently to sudden temperature drops?" She flexes a hand, taking note of the points of exit in the area.

High above, a sinister aircraft hovered over the lab. Inside, Kobra troopers raced through the building. Others stood guard outside.

Dinadan's just glad that he treated his sword for size-shifting -- it means that he almost always has it on him. Not that it'll do much good against cannon fire, but it's something.

"Can't think of anything," he answers Petra as he makes for the labs, "but I haven't looked very close. Everything's ensured, but try not to hit anything not a bad guy."

Petra can hear the roar of the aircraft overhead, and she frowns. She veers off towards the first door or window they come to. "I'm going after the source of the problem. You guys scream or blow something up if you need backup. Be safe."

She runs outside, and grimaces when she spots the craft. She takes a few deep breaths to steel herself, then launches herself into the air like a human rocket. As she goes, she coats herself into ice, turning herself into a massive javelin.

"You too," Dinadan answers almost absently, not taking his eyes off of the guards surrounding the building. He doesn't like these odds much, but...well, it's no undead meta-powered friends this time. He just hopes that someone had the sense to call this into the authorities.

He readjusts his grip on his sword so that he'll be hitting with the flat of his blade. He doesn't really want to kill these people, after all.

"Find something and throw it over their heads to distract them," he tells Lizzy, "I'm going to try and get in closer."

The banner fell over their heads, temporarily blinding them.

Meanwhile, the aircraft opened fire on Petra.

The rate of fire strips away much of Petra's projectile form, but she still collides. The portion of the javelin she was in shatters apart and she falls, forming an ice-slide in mid-air to control her descent.

While the guards are distracted by the table and blinding banner, Dinadan leaps into action; running in light and low, and wishing with all his might that he'd brought something that he could have used from a distance. When he gets in close, he adjusts himself for maximum weight and goes for knees and thighs with the flat of his blade.

The Kobra troopers were going down hard and fast, under Din and Lizzy's attacks, but the sounds of violence from further inside were also going on.

The airship rocked under the impact, and continued to fire.

Petra tried to stay calm. Don't think like Daddy, think like Uncle John or Kyle or anyone else on the planet.

It's a ship. It's big, and it's in the air. It's not supposed to be in the air. Physics are being flouted here. There is flouting going on right over Din's school, and Petra's not even the cause of any of it. This will not stand.

She swings around to what look like exhaust ports, and starts sealing them shut with ice.

"You got these?" Dinadan shouts at Lizzy. If she can take these guys, and maybe pitch in with Petra's fight, he can go ahead and investigate what their buddies are getting up to inside.

He flicks a switch on his belt, growing up toward human-sized so that he can land a proper blow (still with the flat) along side a soldier's helmet.

"I'll hold you to that!" Dinadan says, dropping low and sprinting towards the door. He's somewhere in between his usual fighting-height and human-sized, but he's not going to keep fumbling with the switches while he's running.

He sprints for the door, hoping that the guys inside didn't think to lock it behind them.

The girls should be fine. He knows exactly how good Petra is at this sort of thing, and Lizzy's no slouch herself. And he's...

...He's running toward a fight against an unknown number of enemies armed with Gods only know what. When did that get to be a good idea?

Petra keeps moving, occasionally struck back by a burst of fire, ice shields shattering and sending her tumbling through the air before she can connect. Mobility, crippled. Next, silence and/or blind and deafen them. She starts encasing or smashing anything that looks like an antenna or camera or radar dish.

That...is less reassuring than it should be. With all of those guards outside, inside should be teeming with troopers. Dinadan, shrunken down to his natural height of just under five inches, crawls up and over and through cover when he can, and sprints across the open spaces.

He has the sinking feeling that, if the troopers aren't in here, they've already gotten what they came for.

With feigned casualness, Petra freezes a few dozen grunts as they flee the ship. "I'm headed inside to check on Din. Step on whoever you need to." She books for the university again.
