There was a lot of pyromania left in Michael after the fight with Dex, and the intense desire to Burn had not once abated. But now that he was given evil robots to fight, he decided to test their upper stress limit on heat.
Plasma, plasma, plasma at the nearest one. That should abate the need a bit.
