Happy birthday!
It was Rex's birthday. And Hope wasn't going to miss Rex's birthday.

She knew he would be out during the day, but she decided to surprise him when he got home. She showed up an hour before he would be home, bearing steak, potatoes, green beans, beer, and of course, chocolate birthday cake. She had also gotten him a couple of books in architecture, since he had told her that he was interested in opening up his own firm.

When Rex came home, he would find dinner on the table, and Hope standing there in a little red dress.

"Happy birthday, Rex," she said, going over to kiss him.

"I'll be there," Hope said, smiling as she took a bite of her steak.

"Of course I have the time, Rex,"Hope said. "What is it?"

"Well, I've been thinking lately that this apartment is just too small for me and Nic. Stretching out my wings isn't as easy as it was, and it's just too...cramped. I've been looking at some houses to rent. The only house I'm living in permanently is the one I build." he says, eating a bit more.

"But the place I'm thinking of is pretty big, too big for just me and Nic." Rex says. "We've been together for nearly a year, Goddess. I thought it would be nice if you and I could see each other when we want. Have dinner together and watch sports and drink beer together. It's a big step but...

Do you want to move in?" he asks.

Hope smiled at him. "I would like that, Rex," she said.

She smiled at him.

"And don't worry, I won't insist that we paint the walls in the bedroom pink."

Rex grinned. "Good, because if you did, I'd sleep in the couch and there would be no Goddess worship of any kind." he says.

"How do you think your parents will take your moving out? And what about Goddess Junior?" he asks.
