It's Friday Night: Do You Know Where Your Superhero Kids Are?
Henry grins as he makes certain the bowls of chips are filled. Sodas are available. He's got a hidden stash of beers in his room, but... it's an underage superhero party. They're not visible to most. Those who want one will know to ask him.

People will be arriving soon. He's got tunes, he's got snacks and drinks, he's got games set up to go, and he's got superhero kids coming from all over. While the primary purpose was to make certain the YJLA got a chance to meet Avalon and Josh, the Titans and others have all been invited, too.

This party will rock.

"Oh gosh. maybe about a month by Earth standards. Time passes so much more quickly here than I'm used to." replies Avalon with a big smile. "I've been trying to learn English too, but it's.. not quite so easy. I can't turn my translator off and be able to talk it yet, but I can understand some words." he then announces quite proud of himself.

"But if you want, you can hang out with me." Avalon then says, his expression turning into a shy sweet little smile. "We can watch them and observe. And resist any cavity searches and probing. Apparently Humans think that aliens are supposed to probe their backsides for data." he laughs, "Not sure what data that I'd get..."

Avalon snickers at Katima's joke, and then grins widely to her. "Oh yea. I love soda. I try not to drink too much because it's just so sweet - I usually share one." he then says softly, eyes trained on her face.

"Honestly adjusting to the food and what have you hasn't been too terrible. The worst thing that I've had is mustard. Avoid it at all costs!" he then exclaims.

Scooting a bit closer, Avalon takes the soda and sips from it, and then offers it back to the girl with a big wide smile. "Well, here on Earth, mustard is a terrible yellow concoction with a very strong flavor. I don't recommend it. I doubt it has blood in it though.. because it's yellow."

He brightens a bit, then says "Pizza is nice too. Although I still don't quite understand some of the things they try to feed me."

	Katima turns herself so as to make space for his wings, welcoming him a bit. His smile is nice and she can feel him relax a bit. It causes her to do the same. "I haven't tried anything except pizza. Henry had it cold in the fridge when he brought me here. I...haven't been here long. He said I could be without pants here, but everyone else has pants." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Yea, it must not have been long, cuz this is the first I've seen of you and I live here too." says Avalon, as he gives a shift of his hips. He's starting to feel uncertain that Henry's father would want a whole gaggle of teens living in his house unsupervised.

"I hope Henry didn't try to trick you into sleeping in his room." he then says softly. "We do have other beds. Although with you, I think that means that we've run out."

Avalon's expression turns dark, and he takes a deep breath to steady his annoyance. Katima can quite clearly feel the annoyance and hurt roll off of Avalon, though it might be surprising how quickly things change. It's a sting that is not new, and one that he hides very carefully; but it's very obviously something that hurts the young Nalorian. None of this shows on his face though - Avalon is a quite consummate chess player, and if Katima hadn't been able to sense emotions, none would be the wiser.

"Well, he's lying." he then says flatly, before he shakes his head a bit and settles back into the couch, fighting his dark mood. It takes a moment for Avalon to come back completely, and he offers Katima a bit of an apologetic smile as he says "Henry doesn't take his duties as sacred the way that I do, and the way that I would suppose that you do as well. I've been having trouble coming to terms with that, I'm sory for my negativity."

Katima recoils as soon as the negative emotions hit her and her face twists a bit. She's unable to mask their reactions as she takes them in and for her, they are painful. She doesn't read anything into them though, except that Avalon is displeased with Henry's dishonesty. Tucking her arms around her stomach she tries to dissipate what she's just felt. Without her staff handy, it's difficult.

"It's okay. Perhaps he had his reasons. I shall ask him for a different place to stay immediately."

Avalon feels immediately bad about not controlling himself better, and he reaches out to gently press a hand over Katima's. "You're empathic too, huh?" he then asks softly. "I'm sorry. I'll be more careful in the future.. I've gotten used to not masking myself so that I don't hurt others."

He then offers a bit of a smile and says "Do whatever you wish in regards to Henry. I just wish he had given you the choice of where you wished to sleep.. but do not think that you must move if you are comfortable. That was not my intention. I.. just do not like untruths."

"I am, but it's part of who I am and I would prefer beings experience their emotions than hide them. Hiding them is not healthy for anyone. I just am usually better about dispersing them." She squeezes his hand. "It's okay."

"I like Henry. It is unfortunate that he had to lie. Perhaps I will ask him why. I'm warmer than most humans. Perhaps that is why he wanted me to stay in his room. It was quite cold when we were containing that Black Lantern."

"no.. It's for other reasons." replies Avalon in a sad tone, before he plasters a smile on his face. "Henry has a very non-Earthling way at looking at relationships, and if he finds someone attractive, he will do whatever he must to.. become closer to them. I've seen him do this many times."

Avalon, being empathic himself, is rather good at keeping things to himself. But a little bit of wistfulness leaks out of him that he's managed to conceal out of his voice, "Henry has a lot of love to share, and shares it with many people."

He has his flaws, as do every one of us, but I still care for him all the same; he's still my partner, and I accept things as they are.." he pauses, then says softly "May I tell you a secret?" "On Nalor, everyone is able to see the future.. I am not able to, because I am not full Nalorian - but I can sense emotions, much as you do. Before I came to Earth, my mother said goodbye to me because she knew that would be the last time she saw me.. She told me that I would not be returning to Nalor, and that my new home was among the stars with the one whom I had been sent to support." The admission makes him take a steadying breath, as ocean eyes searched Katima's face, "She said that there would be another Lantern, though she wasn't sure how that person would play into everything. I have been wondering what her vision meant, but now that I meet you, I think that I have a better understanding of things."

He flushes then, and offers a shy smile as he asks "But please, do not tell Henry? I've been trying to find a time to tell him of my mother's vision and my empathy, but we.. We just don't ever seem to have the same conversation, and so I've not found a proper time to bring it up. I promise that I shall tell him soon, I've just got to find a way to reach him."

	Katima listens intently, her own blue (though not blue like his) eyes watching with obvious and deliberate care. It is as though she is internalizing every word, carving it somewhere deep within her mind. "I will not breathe a word, Avalon. You have my word." Taking the soda, Avalon sips at it and nods his head to Katima. "I hope we will. I don't mind having your help in the slightest - Blue and Indigo are sister colors after all." He says.

Her discomfort though makes him conserned, and Avalon gives Katima's hand another squeeze. "I am here for you, should you need someone." He says plainly. "If it all becomes too much, tell me and I shall do whatever I can to help."
